Principal temporarily suspended for arbitrarily moving things to new school

On the afternoon of August 30, the People's Committee of Vinh Thuan district decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Principal of Thi Tran Secondary School (Vinh Thuan town, Kien Giang province).

The reason for the suspension was because Mr. Phong hired someone to transport desks, chairs, and equipment to another school without notice before the new school year. The incident caused public outrage.

In addition, Vinh Thuan district also directed relevant departments to urgently inspect this man's responsibility.

Previously, on August 27, the Standing Committee of Vinh Thuan District Party Committee met to consider transferring the Town Secondary School in Vinh Dong 1 quarter, Vinh Thuan town (old school) to Vinh Thuan Town Primary & Secondary School in Vinh Phuoc 2 quarter, Vinh Thuan town (new school).

Vinh Thuan District Party Committee requested to stop the transfer of Thi Tran Secondary School to the new facility because the transfer was not done according to the procedure, the preparation time was not guaranteed, the District People's Committee did not give instructions; the consensus among staff, teachers, and parents was not high, causing public outrage.

The 2024-2025 school year will open and be taught at Thi Tran Secondary School (old school).

As Dan Tri reported, previously, on August 23, the People's Committee of Vinh Thuan district coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications of Kien Giang province to hold a press conference to clarify related information.

Also at this press conference, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Nguyen - Vice Chairman of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee - said that the principal's arbitrarily moving desks, chairs, and equipment from the old school to the new school was a hasty act.

Ms. Mai Thuy Oanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Thuan district - explained that the reason for having to move the school location is because the facilities of Thi Tran Secondary School are seriously degraded, not ensuring the new school year.
