On the evening of April 12, answering VTC News, Mr. Huynh Quang Trung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang, said that the police force, border guards, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and tourist beaches temporarily stopped searching for the twin brothers who went missing while swimming in the sea.
“On the evening of April 12, the waves were big and the wind was strong, so the search and rescue work encountered many difficulties. Since the afternoon, the authorities have continuously cast nets in the sea area from Tan Tra beach to Non Nuoc beach with a length of about 2km but still had no results.
According to experienced fishermen, with today's strong winds and waves, the victim is likely to have been swept away. Dozens of jet skis were also used by the search force to expand the search but have not been found yet, " said Mr. Trung, adding that the search will continue tomorrow, April 13.
Authorities spread a net about 2km long to search for the victim.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Hai Ward, the family circumstances of the two victims are very difficult, the parents are manual laborers, the mother is a janitor.
Previously, VTC News reported that at noon on April 12, the People's Committee of Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang received a report of someone drowning while swimming in the sea.
Authorities identified the drowning victims as Phan Gia Bao and Phan Bao Truong, twin brothers (14 years old, temporarily residing at Group 56, Hoa Hai, Ngu Hanh Son), students of class 8/3 at Huynh Ba Chanh Secondary School. The location of the two drowning was the sea area in front of a Resort & Spa in Hoa Hai ward.
Authorities used canoes and jet skis to search for two children missing at sea.
Immediately after that, the Ward People's Committee reported to the District People's Committee, notified the police force and Non Nuoc Border Guard Station to mobilize forces along with 10 jet skis, 3 basket boats of the Border Guard Station, the Son Tra Peninsula Management Board and Da Nang tourist beaches to coordinate the search. However, by the evening of April 12, the authorities had still not found the victim.
