Strengthening trade between Can Tho and Bac Ninh

(CT) - The Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Ninh province and the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho city have just held an online meeting to discuss and agree on the working program on October 2 in Can Tho city. At the meeting, the two sides introduced the advantages and development potential of the locality after the merger. Accordingly, the new Can Tho City after the merger has an area of ​​over 6,360.83 km2, is a centrally-governed city, has a position as a hub for water - road - aviation traffic; is the economic , financial, commercial, service, logistics, science - technology and medical center of the Mekong Delta region. The economic structure of the city continues to shift towards modernization, associated with the industrialization and modernization process, creating a solid foundation for rapid and sustainable development. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the economic structure of the city will have a proportion of agriculture, forestry and fishery accounting for 20.95%; the industrial - construction sector accounting for 28.37% (of which, industry accounts for 24.5%); services accounting for 45.36% and product taxes accounting for 5.32%.

The newly established Bac Ninh province was established on the basis of merging the two provinces of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, belonging to the key economic region of the North and the Red River Delta. The province has a strategic position on two important economic corridors of the North (Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh and Nanning - Lang Son - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh), and is also located on the North - South economic dynamic axis of Vietnam. Bac Ninh's economic structure is shifting strongly towards modernization, associated with industrialization and modernization, creating a foundation for rapid and sustainable development. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the proportion of the industrial - construction sector will account for 71.3%; services account for 19.5%; agriculture, forestry and fishery account for 6.3%; product tax accounts for 2.9% in the economic structure of the province.

It is expected that on October 2, the working delegation of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Ninh province will work with the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho city. The working program will focus on exchanging and discussing contents related to the circulation of goods, industrial cluster development, industrial development management, electricity and solar power management.
