India's "goodwill"

A 35-ton shipment worth $1 million, including humanitarian aid items from India, was transported by special aircraft to Hanoi last night, September 15.

Under Operation Sadbhav (Goodwill), the Government of India has transported emergency relief supplies to the Government of Vietnam to support communities in several provinces of northern Vietnam affected by Storm No. 3 ( Yagi ).

The relief goods include essential items such as water purifiers, blankets, mosquito nets, kitchenware, water tanks, buckets with taps and solar lamps based on the needs of the affected communities and recommendations from the authorities. The shipment is worth USD 1 million.

A few days ago, on behalf of the Government and people of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his condolences and solidarity to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also sent his condolences to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on the loss and damage caused by the storm.

The Government of India affirmed that the humanitarian assistance to Vietnam is a testament to the strong and long-standing relationship between the two countries, marked by the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Operation Sadbhav (Goodwill) is part of India’s larger effort to contribute to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the ASEAN region, in line with India’s long-standing Act East policy.

Presenting the relief goods to representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya expressed deep sympathy from Indian businesses and community members towards those affected by Cyclone Yagi and the Vietnamese authorities.
