Deo Ngang tunnel connecting Ha Tinh with Quang Tri opened

On the morning of July 16, the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) and Song Da 10 Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to open the Deo Ngang tunnel connecting Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces. This is an important milestone of the project to upgrade and expand a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 in the two provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Tri.

After completion, Deo Ngang tunnel will have 2 tunnel tubes.

The Deo Ngang Tunnel Expansion belongs to the XL-CHQL1-02 package of the Project to upgrade and expand a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 (including Xuong Giang Bridge, Gianh Bridge, Quan Hau Bridge and especially Deo Ngang Tunnel) which started construction on January 13, 2025, with a value of more than VND 219 billion, with the Railway Project Management Board as the investor.

The Deo Ngang Tunnel expansion is 650m long, of which the tunnel body is 555m long, 10.5m wide with 2 lanes, designed speed of 80km/h. The tunnel route crosses the Hoanh Son range, with the starting point in Hoanh Son ward ( Ha Tinh province) and the ending point in Phu Trach commune (Quang Tri province).

Upon completion, Deo Ngang tunnel will operate two parallel tunnels with a total roadbed width of up to 20.5m, with four motor vehicle lanes (combined with the existing tunnel) and two non-motor vehicle lanes.

In the past time, to construct the Deo Ngang tunnel expansion project, Song Da Joint Stock Company (the construction unit) mobilized human resources along with vehicles, machinery and equipment. Engineers and workers overcame all difficulties and made efforts to complete the task, 1 month ahead of schedule, ensuring the quality and safety of the project.

The opening of the Deo Ngang technical tunnel marks an important milestone of the project, responding to the trust of the investor.

In the coming time, the Railway Project Management Board requested the construction unit to focus all resources and strive to basically complete the Deo Ngang Tunnel expansion project to put it into operation by the end of 2025.
