TPO - On September 13, the People's Committee of Hau Giang province held a meeting to approve the preliminary design plan for the Nguyen Chi Thanh bridge and road project in Vi Thanh city. The project has a total investment capital of more than 1,600 billion VND.
The Nguyen Chi Thanh bridge and road project has its starting point connecting to the existing Nguyen Chi Thanh road, about 450m from Tran Hung Dao road, and its end point connecting to 19/8 road in Vi Tan commune, Vi Thanh city.
The project has a total length of about 2.6km, with 6 bridge locations and 5 culvert locations. Of which, Nguyen Chi Thanh bridge will be built with a width of 29m and a length of about 380m (from the 2 abutments); the remaining 5 bridges on the route will be divergent in scale with a bridge width of 14m. The route section with a length of about 2.2km will be invested in divergently with an expected scale of a foundation width of 11.5m.

The project has a total estimated investment of 1,600 billion VND. Of which, the estimated cost of construction and site clearance is 1,480 billion VND (the construction of Nguyen Chi Thanh bridge alone (excluding access roads) is 592 billion VND).
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee - requested that, regarding land procedures, the investor, together with Vi Thanh city and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, review the land use planning. If there is not yet one, it must be urgently added to the land use planning and plan to carry out the next steps.
Once the investment project is approved, compensation work can be implemented immediately. The investor and the consultant will make an implementation plan, expected to start construction in 2025.

The investment in the construction of Nguyen Chi Thanh Bridge will contribute to connecting Vi Thanh city with National Highway 61C, the main traffic route connecting with Can Tho city, promoting rapid and sustainable socio -economic development. Gradually expand the urban space of Vi Thanh city along the South - North sides of Xa No canal and expand in all directions according to the correlation of the province's existing water and road traffic network.
