According to Ms. Truong Trinh Minh Thu, resident of Binh Duc ward, the idea of opening a pet spa came from her sister because she saw the potential market and the development of this service. Loving animals, Ms. Minh Thu decided to take a 6-month professional course in Can Tho city on the necessary knowledge and skills, helping her confidently enter the pet care profession.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Huy, a resident of Binh Duc ward, is now also involved in a pet care spa with his wife, Ms. Minh Thu. “The spa provides affordable pet care services, suitable for many customers. Basic services include bathing, trimming and cleaning (foot and ear cleaning). The special feature of the spa is the home pick-up service. A single care session with a bath, cleaning, nail trimming, and home pick-up package costs from 60,000 - 70,000 VND; when including bathing and beauty services such as trimming and styling the fur costs from 200,000 - 250,000 VND/session. Depending on the breed of dog, cat and the owner's preferences, the spa offers services from simple short haircuts to elaborate styling,” said Mr. Huy.

For many people who do not own pets, grooming dogs and cats may be unnecessary and expensive. However, for those who consider them as family members, taking care of their appearance is extremely important. A clean dog or cat is not only healthy, avoiding skin diseases or parasites, but also protects the health of the family, especially the elderly and children. Therefore, keeping pets clean and beautiful is to maintain the health of loved ones.

According to Mr. Huy, for pets with skin diseases, the spa uses special shampoo. Mr. Huy encourages customers to take their pets to the veterinarian for appropriate treatment, then the spa supports care according to the doctor's instructions. Although it is a popular spa, the products and tools used are all specialized, separate for dogs and cats. After each use, the tools are sterilized to ensure hygiene and safety.

“To retain customers, the spa always puts love and patience first. For pets coming to the spa for the first time, the staff spends time getting to know them and petting them to make them feel secure. For aggressive pets, we approach them slowly and only do simple things, then make an appointment for the owner to bring them back to get used to them gradually. Thanks to that, many aggressive dogs and cats become gentle and cooperative. This has built a strong trust in customers and they are willing to entrust their pets to the spa for care,” said Ms. Minh Thu.

Occupational hazards are unavoidable, especially when dealing with pets that are not used to strangers. Working in this profession can lead to scratches and bites, especially from cats, so Mr. Huy and his staff always wear protective gear. The spa also requires customers to ensure their pets are fully vaccinated before using the service.

After a period of operation, Ms. Thu's Puppy Spa has a stable number of regular customers. During holidays and Tet, the number of customers bringing their pets for care and beauty increases. Mr. Huy and his wife will continue to invest and improve the quality of services to attract more customers and expand the scale of business. They believe that with their dedication and love for animals, this job will bring stable income and joy to those who work in the pet care and beauty profession.
