On April 7, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State to visit and attend the memorial service for former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and former President of Laos Khamtay Siphandone.

At the meetings, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his infinite sorrow and deepest condolences to the Party, State and people of Laos and the family of Mr. Khamtay Siphandone.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his admiration for the great contributions with indelible marks in the history of building and developing Laos and the revolutionary movements of the three Indochinese countries of Mr. Khamtay Siphandone.

The Prime Minister emphasized that former President Khamtay Siphandone, together with Lao predecessors, led the revolutionary movement, achieving consecutive victories, bringing the Lao revolution to complete victory, and at the same time greatly contributing to the victory of the Vietnamese revolution.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always respect and remember the role and contributions of the late President Khamtay Siphandone, a great friend and close comrade who was loyal and devoted, and played an important role in building, nurturing and developing the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The Prime Minister firmly believes that the Lao Party, State and people will turn this loss into a great source of strength to build and develop Laos to become increasingly strong.

The Lao senior leaders sincerely thanked and expressed their great emotion when the Party, State and people of Vietnam expressed their condolences on the passing of Mr. Khamtay Siphandone, especially sending the first delegation led by General Secretary To Lam to pay their respects and today the delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the memorial service as well as Vietnam's decision to hold a two-day national mourning period, demonstrating the rare special solidarity and loyalty between the two Parties, two States and peoples as well as the personal affection between the senior leaders of Vietnam and Laos.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressed his deep emotion and gratitude for the deep affection of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the Party, State and people of Laos, especially for Mr. Khamtay Siphandone. Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highly appreciated the wholehearted and sincere assistance and support that Vietnam has given to Laos in the struggle for national independence as well as in the cause of building, protecting and developing the country up to now.

In an emotional atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and senior Lao leaders reviewed the great contributions of comrade Khamtay Siphandone to the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

Lao leaders have announced that they will send a high-level delegation to Vietnam to attend the P4G Partnership for Green Growth Summit and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
