On the morning of September 7, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of Voice of Vietnam (September 7, 1945 - September 7, 2025) and received the Ho Chi Minh Medal for the third time.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented Voice of Vietnam with 16 words: "Courage - Objectivity - Comprehensiveness - Timeliness - Identity - Digitalization - Creativity - Efficiency."
Also attending the ceremony were Party Central Committee Secretary, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai; Party Central Committee members, leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, central and local ministries, departments, branches, and organizations; representatives of countries and international organizations.
At the event, delegates listened to a congratulatory letter from General Secretary To Lam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Voice of Vietnam.
Voice of Vietnam was honored to receive congratulatory flower baskets from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu.
80-year journey with the nation
The commemorative speech presented by General Director of Voice of Vietnam Do Tien Sy stated that exactly 80 years ago, at 11:30 a.m. on September 7, 1945, from Hanoi, Voice of Vietnam (VOV) broadcast its first official news bulletin.

In that sacred historical moment, the Voice of Vietnam broadcast the content of the Declaration of Independence, which President Ho Chi Minh solemnly announced to the entire nation and international friends on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. That event marked the birth of national radio.
Throughout its 80-year journey of construction and development, Voice of Vietnam has always accompanied the nation's history, closely associated with each stage of revolution, resistance, construction and defense of the Fatherland.
From the early days of many difficulties, Voice of Vietnam has grown to become a strong multimedia agency. Voice of Vietnam has steadfastly carried out the noble mission entrusted to it by President Ho Chi Minh, the Party, the State and the people.
The Voice of Vietnam has affirmed its position as a pioneering national media agency in building a modern revolutionary press; contributing to preserving national identity, bringing the "Voice of Vietnam" far and wide around the world. The Voice of Vietnam has truly become a strategic information bridge, promptly transmitting the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's direction and administration in both wartime and peacetime; an open forum reflecting the people's voice; a bridge of cultural exchange, contributing to enhancing the country's position in the international arena.
Entering a new phase, Voice of Vietnam is making strong moves to continue affirming itself as the leading multimedia and key media agency in Vietnam, especially in the field of radio and digital journalism; maintaining and expanding traditional radio coverage, leading in Vietnam in Podcasts, improving content quality and accessibility, and interacting with the public through digital platforms.
Voice of Vietnam strives to be among the world's 100 largest media agencies by 2045; to become one of Vietnam's leading foreign media agencies.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Ho Chi Minh Medal was awarded (for the third time) to the Voice of Vietnam; speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his respect and gratitude to the delegates for President Ho Chi Minh - the great teacher of the Vietnamese revolution, national liberation hero, world cultural celebrity of Vietnam, and the person who directed the establishment of the National Radio Station - the predecessor of the Voice of Vietnam today.

We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the tireless contributions and dedication of generations of cadres, reporters, editors, technicians, broadcasters, artists, and workers of Voice of Vietnam throughout its glorious 80-year history of accompanying the nation.
In particular, respectfully bow, express gratitude and send loving feelings to the families and relatives of the 34 martyrs who sacrificed for the cause of building and protecting the country, for the companionship of the nation of the Voice of Vietnam.
Reviewing the milestones of the past 80 years of the Voice of Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that over the past 80 years, the "Voice of Vietnam" has always resounded far and high; it is the voice of the arduous but proud, heroic and glorious journey to gain independence, freedom and happiness for the nation; it is the voice of pain, hatred and fighting; it is the voice of faith and hope; it is the voice of conscience and human dignity; it is the voice of national love and compatriotism; it is the voice of aspiration, love of peace and friendship, international solidarity; it is the voice that motivates and inspires many generations of Vietnamese people through the heroic revolutionary history of the country.
“Those profound impressions will always remain in the minds, capturing the trust and love of our compatriots, soldiers nationwide and overseas Vietnamese,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed.

According to the Prime Minister, during the resistance wars and struggles for national independence and unification, “Voice of Vietnam” overcame bombs and bullets, overcame all difficulties and hardships to spread patriotism, sow the belief in victory, and give strength to the entire nation to defeat all imperialists, colonialists, feudalists, and lackeys with sharp articles imbued with humanity, songs, singing, and immortal poetry that touched people’s hearts on the Voice of Vietnam radio, contributing to bringing the country to the day of total victory, fulfilling the wish of “Independence, freedom, unification, North and South reunited as one family” as beloved Uncle Ho always wished.
In the period of peace, innovation, integration and national development, "Voice of Vietnam" carries out the mission of propagating, encouraging, and arousing the spirit of enthusiastic work; promoting new thinking, new and creative ways of doing things, promoting internal strength, overcoming difficulties; actively fighting to protect the Party's ideological foundation, protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, national interests, contributing to creating socio-economic development miracles; becoming a broad forum reflecting the people's voice to the Party and State and a bridge of cultural exchange, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's prestige and position in the international arena.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that after 80 years of establishment, development and accompanying the nation, the Voice of Vietnam has increasingly matured, grown stronger, promoting its role and position as a key and important national press and media agency of the Party, State and people on the ideological and cultural front; a trustworthy "red address", with prestige and strong influence; truly becoming a strategic information bridge between the Party, State and people, bringing the voice of the Party and State closer to the people and strong declarations of war against hostile forces and reactionary organizations that oppose the interests of our nation, people and people.
In particular, in the context of rapidly changing world media, Voice of Vietnam always strives to innovate and create to adapt to the wave of international integration, the trend of digital technology transformation, global information competition, overcome the limitations of the broadcasting sector and reach out, promote potentials and strengths to meet the diverse needs of listeners across the country and our compatriots abroad as well as international friends.
From a radio station, Voice of Vietnam has become a multimedia, multi-platform, multi-lingual communication complex; synchronous technical infrastructure, advanced technology; scientific and modern organizational structure and operating mechanism; a team of human resources with strong political will, professional expertise, love for the job, and ready to devote themselves to the mission.
“The Voice of Vietnam has been making efforts to build and develop a solid media network on radio, print, electronic and digital platforms; increasingly defining its position as a multimedia media agency, affirming its brand in the region and the world,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Authentic, objective, timely, effective
Analyzing the world situation and its impact on the country, as well as the trends, development trends and national development goals, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the requirements and tasks will be increasingly high but also very glorious for information and communication work in general, especially for key press and media agencies, including the Voice of Vietnam, worthy of the advice of beloved Uncle Ho: "The press is a front. Press cadres are revolutionary soldiers" and as the document of the 13th Party Congress clearly defined the orientation: "Building a professional, humane and modern press and media."

The Prime Minister requested that with the glorious tradition, strength and prestige of a key media agency over 80 years of construction and growth, Voice of Vietnam needs to continue to make more efforts to innovate in thinking, awareness and action, create breakthroughs, and improve the efficiency of all aspects of operation.
Generations of cadres, reporters, editors, technicians, announcers, artists, and workers of the Voice of Vietnam must preserve the tradition, continue the career, and continue the glorious history that previous generations have worked hard to build with the spirit of revolutionary journalism "Steel in the pen, fire in the heart," contributing more to the cause of building, developing the country and protecting the Fatherland.
In order for the Voice of Vietnam to better fulfill its mission and further promote its role and significance in all aspects of social life in the new situation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the station to focus on effectively implementing six key contents.
In particular, the Voice of Vietnam must clearly define its vision, build strategies, programs, and specific plans to realize its aspirations, and be determined to become one of the leading radio stations in the region, continue to maintain and further promote its aspirations and responsibilities as a "Voice of Vietnam" with a long-term vision, think deeply and do big things, focus on implementing well the two key points of promoting tradition and endogenous strength, promptly adapting to changes of the times; taking listeners as the center, innovation as the driving force, science and technology, digital transformation as the foundation, improving capacity and strongly applying science, information technology, and modern communications.
The Voice of Vietnam must continue to innovate its thinking and working methods, focus on quality and efficiency, and better perform its information and communication tasks with the 30-word motto: "Orthodox, objective, timely - Proactive, flexible, creative - Accompanying, dedicated, responsible - Identity, scientific, modern - Resolute, timely, effective;" constantly innovate, improve the quality of programs and content, be politically sensitive, economically acumen, scientifically and technologically profound, closely follow reality, grasp the "soul" of life, the "breath," the heartbeat of society, the thoughts, feelings, and aspirations of the people.

The Prime Minister directed the Voice of Vietnam to contribute to improving the spiritual life and cultural enjoyment of the people. Promote the cultural values, identity and people of Vietnam; arouse the tradition of patriotism, national pride, belief and aspiration to develop a prosperous and prosperous country.
Spread the spirit and image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world; promote Vietnamese culture in the common culture of humanity, contributing to world culture and civilization. Focus on developing the cultural and entertainment industry, meeting the needs of the country's development and the people's enjoyment; increase programs in ethnic languages.
Along with that, the Voice of Vietnam must further promote the development and application of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation; expand better coverage to remote, border, island and ethnic minority areas; strengthen international cooperation, modernize towards international standards and in accordance with Vietnamese reality; invest more in developing high-quality human resources; build a contingent of cadres with qualities, capacity, prestige, enthusiasm and dedication; build a clean and strong Party, improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members, to meet the increasingly high requirements and tasks of the Vietnamese Revolution and the growing demands of the people.
Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's advice: "You must preserve the voice of the Party, the Government and the people in all situations," the Prime Minister hopes and believes that, with the glorious 80-year tradition, the entire team of cadres, reporters, editors, announcers, artists, technicians and workers of the Voice of Vietnam will always unite, join hands, make efforts to overcome all difficulties and challenges, constantly innovate and create, develop more and more strongly, achieve many new achievements, and excellently fulfill the mission entrusted by the Party, the State and the people./.
