Promoting the development of private health services

On July 26, the establishment of Hanoi - Quang Ninh International General Hospital (Uong Bi Ward) was officially announced. With an area of over 12,000m², a scale of 120 inpatient beds, modern equipment meeting international standards, such as 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, 128-slice CT, AI Voluson Signature 18 ultrasound, 4K Olympus endoscopy system... this is the first high-quality private hospital in Uong Bi. At the same time, the hospital also focuses on building a team of highly qualified human resources and especially establishing in-depth professional cooperation with central hospitals. Thanks to that, people have the opportunity to access advanced treatment methods right in the locality, reducing costs and travel time.

Over the past 5 years, Quang Ninh has recorded a strong transformation of the private healthcare network. The whole province currently has 625 private healthcare facilities in operation, including 3 private hospitals, 19 general clinics, 603 specialized facilities and medical services. Among them, many units have been invested in infrastructure, equipment and human resources, making important contributions to public healthcare. Typical examples include: Vinmec Ha Long International General Hospital (meeting the US JCI international standards, with a design scale of 150 beds); Vietnam - Russia Ha Long International Eye Hospital (20 beds); Hanoi - Ha Long Eye Hospital (25 beds) ...

Along with hospitals, the system of general clinics has also made significant progress in quality and area of operation. Many clinics have up to 15-20 doctors, including specialists I, II, PhDs... serving the diverse needs of the people.

The private health network also plays an active role in vaccination. Currently, the province has 64 public and service vaccination clinics (19 public, 45 private), in addition to 185 EPI points at health stations. Thanks to that, the province's expanded vaccination rate in 2024 has reached 95.8%, exceeding the planned target and higher than the national average.

Notably, the private healthcare system in Quang Ninh is contributing a significant medical workforce, with 1,138 people, including 381 doctors, 316 nurses, 71 medical technicians, 23 midwives and many other pharmacists and physicians. This is an important force to supplement the province's comprehensive healthcare system, especially in the context of an aging population and increasing demand for healthcare services.

To facilitate the development of private healthcare, the province and the health sector have implemented a series of synchronous solutions from policy mechanisms to communication, technical and administrative support. Notably, the establishment of a Working Group to remove difficulties for private healthcare enterprises, providing a focal point to receive feedback and recommendations from facilities. The sector regularly organizes conferences and training courses on electronic prescriptions, using online public services in medical and pharmaceutical practice; at the same time, promoting propaganda on official media channels about the benefits of private healthcare services...

It can be seen that private healthcare has become an important pillar in the health care system for people in Quang Ninh.
