One of the contents of this year's Vietnamese Family Day (June 28) that the associations at all levels are implementing is building happy families and preventing domestic violence.
According to information from the Provincial Women's Union, violence against women (PN), commonly known as gender-based violence, is a common phenomenon that exists in all countries, causing serious harm to women's health, body, and dignity, causing great obstacles to gender equality and violating human rights.
Women are the labor force, contributing greatly to the cause of national liberation and development. However, women are also facing many challenges, including domestic violence - a global problem, causing physical and mental harm to many women, destabilizing the lives and happiness of many families.
The Women's Unions of localities always have practical activities to support members in difficulty. In the photo: The Women's Union of Lai Hung commune, Bau Bang district gives breakfast to workers.
Although there are no official figures, the rate of couples experiencing violence from scolding, insulting, forcing sex when there is no need is happening. According to statistics, 1 in 5 couples have experienced violence in any form. Domestic violence in recent years has been happening with an increasingly serious nature, the violators and the number of victims have increased in all regions. Victims of domestic violence are women, men and children, mainly women and children. Domestic violence leads to many consequences.
In recent times, the Women's Union at all levels has improved the knowledge and skills of union officials in applying information technology in union activities. They organized a seminar on "Improving the effectiveness of communication through social networks in the union system", propagating skills in applying information technology, digital transformation, designing Infographics, designing short propaganda clips on TikTok platform, QR code... to propagate family work, helping members and women grasp more knowledge and understanding of the law so as not to be victims of domestic violence. They accompanied the grassroots union and promoted the role of the branch union officials and women's groups with the motto "Where there are women, there are union activities". The Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union led and directed the unions at all levels to closely follow the grassroots, implementing the 3 together "Listen to women speak, speak for women to understand, do for women to follow", "Accompany the grassroots union and the Women's Union branches". To date, there are 31 establishments with the “1+1” model and 43 establishments with the “3 have, 3 know” model. The main task of these models is to support women to develop comprehensively, to build a prosperous, happy, progressive and civilized Vietnamese family.
In recent years, in family work, the Provincial Association has also advised the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to coordinate with the Central Association to successfully organize a series of activities on Vietnamese Family Day June 28 with many rich contents. Specifically, the live TV program "Godmother - Love and Sharing" with nearly 1,000 delegates attending, photo exhibitions, books, start-up products, seminars...
Union officials at all levels have also participated in building the Party and the political system, focusing on supervision, social criticism, and mobilizing society to implement gender equality. The provincial union has also signed coordination programs with the Department of Justice, the Police, the Procuracy, the Provincial People's Court, and socio-political organizations such as the Provincial Youth Union, the Labor Federation, etc. to better perform the role and responsibility of propaganda and mediation when domestic violence occurs in the area, and promptly help union members and women, etc.
A Provincial Association official shared on this issue: Fighting, preventing, and moving towards completely eliminating acts of gender-based violence against women has been implemented in the past time and it is necessary to pay attention to and implement regularly and continuously as a way to help women no longer be victims of domestic violence.
With the spirit of sharing and accompanying disadvantaged women and children, the Provincial Women's Union has just coordinated with the Central Southern Working Committee and the Women's Committee of Military Region 7 to organize a gift giving program for 780 orphans, women in difficult circumstances and female workers far from home, with a total socialized budget of more than 800 million VND. |
