The essay exam board will have independent marking teams and marking teams.
The examination board will disseminate the marking instructions, organize the joint marking of a number of exams to unify and conduct marking with independent rounds.
The multiple-choice test marking council organizes the marking according to the process of scanning test data and sending the original data disk to the Ministry of Education and Training for marking.
Localities will complete grading the exams on July 14. At exactly 8:00 a.m. on July 17, the Departments of Education and Training and the units that registered for the exam will announce the exam scores.
Math "on par with 2018", literature unpredictable
Regarding the math test, Mr. Le Van Cuong, a teacher at Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School ( Hanoi ), assessed that it was more difficult than in 2023. Candidates with average learning ability can do about 30-35 questions to be sure of 6-7 points. But scores of 8 and above, especially 9 and 10 points, will not be many. In 2023, the whole country had 12 candidates scoring 10 points in math, according to Mr. Cuong, this year the number of 10 points is even less.
"The last 5 questions of this year's math test are very difficult. These are also strange questions. Candidates cannot do them without extra study or research," Mr. Cuong commented, using the phrase "puzzling students" to describe the difficulty of these last 5 questions.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Chinh, a math teacher in Hanoi, assessed that the differentiating questions in this year's math exam were almost on par with the "historic" 2018 exam. Therefore, only truly excellent students could get 9 or 10 points.
According to Mr. Chinh, the average score for math will be above 7 points. Mr. Tran Manh Tung, another math teacher in Hanoi, also predicted that the average score for math this year will be around 6 points, with a median of 6.3 points. The score that most candidates achieved was 7.4 points.
This year’s literature exam was the only one where almost all candidates left the exam room smiling. Many candidates in big cities said they had “hit the jackpot” in both the literary work and the topic of the social argumentation question. Many teachers said that this year’s literature scores could increase significantly.
Accordingly, the predicted literature score is around 6 - 6.5 points. Students who have mastered the basic knowledge will not have difficulty getting a score of 7 - 7.5. In particular, the number of scores of 8 and above may be higher than last year.
The average score in literature in 2023 is 6.86 points, the median score is 7 points, the score with the most candidates is 7 points. The number of candidates with below average scores accounts for 7.3%. In 2023, the whole country only has 1 candidate with a score of 10 in literature.
However, teachers also believe that literature is the most difficult subject to score. In addition to the fact that literature is difficult to quantify, this subject is graded by examiners (not machines), so there are also influencing factors such as the examiner's point of view.
Subjects of the 2 combined exams are expected to increase slightly.
According to teacher Le Dinh Hien ( Thanh Hoa ), this year's history test can easily get students above 7 points, good students can get 9 or 10 points. Sharing similar comments, some teachers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also said that students who have studied well can basically get 7 points or higher.
The score range may be concentrated at around 6.5 - 7 points. The number of students scoring below average will decrease compared to last year and in this subject, there may be more candidates scoring 9, 10 than last year.
In geography, Mr. Vu Hai Nam, a teacher at the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities (Hanoi National University), said that the basic exam questions closely followed the structure of the reference exam questions. In this subject, candidates have an advantage with questions that are considered "easy to get points" using geography Allat. Therefore, getting a score of 7 is not difficult. Some other teachers also said that students can easily do 30 questions to get 7 - 7.5 points. The exam only has 10 questions that are differentiated.
Civics, although this year's exam has some highly differentiated questions, compared to the general level, is still a subject predicted to have an outstanding average score and many candidates scored 9 and 10 points. In 2023, the average score for this subject is 8.20. The score with the most candidates is 9 points. There are 14,693 candidates who scored 10 points in this subject.
Teachers commented that the scores for all three subjects in the natural science exam may increase slightly, but the scores of 9 and 10 will decrease compared to last year.
According to Mr. Tran Van Huy - teacher at Phan Huy Chu High School (Hanoi), this year's physics test has about 30 basic knowledge questions. If you have a solid understanding of the knowledge in the textbook, you can definitely get enough points for these 30 questions.
The last 10 questions in the test have clear differentiation, requiring a lot of time to calculate and reason, of which 5 are difficult questions, requiring students to practice a lot, think well and quickly to keep up with the time, and combine physics knowledge from previous years.
Mr. Huy said that physics will have few 10s. Some other teachers said that this year there will be many candidates scoring 7-9, and there may be fewer 10s.
Chemistry, according to Mr. Pham Thanh Tung, a chemistry teacher at Tuyensinh247, this year's average score may be about 0.5 points higher than in 2023. Many teachers assessed that the chemistry exam was only the most difficult in the last 7-8 questions on synthesis theory and chemical problems. Many students may achieve a score of 6-7.5. Good students can get 8-8.75 points, but they must be very excellent to get a score of 9 or higher.
Change in the "bottom" subject?
Biology was at the bottom of the list in previous years along with history, but this year teachers predict that the score will increase. The test has added more theory, which teachers say is a favorable factor for candidates who have mastered theory. The score range can be concentrated around 6 - 6.5 points. Meanwhile, in 2023, the average score for biology was 6.39. There were 135 candidates who scored 10 points.
Does English narrow the gap?
In recent years, English has been the subject with the worst and most unusual score distribution because just by looking at it, you can see that there is a big difference between two groups of candidates. The group with scores of 8 and above are concentrated in big cities while there is another group whose scores mostly only reach the threshold of 5 points or less.
In 2023, the average score for English was 5.45 points, the median score was 5.2 points. The score with the most candidates was 4.2 points. There were 494 candidates who scored 10 points.
This year, the regional gap in English may improve, the English score range is predicted to be concentrated around 5.5 - 6.5 and there will be many 9 - 10 scores.
Approaching the way questions are set in 2025
Comparing the general level of the 2023 exam subjects, this year's graduation exam scores may improve in some "bottom-ranked" subjects such as history and biology, but there will be no breakthroughs.

In 2023, the whole country will have more than 16,300 exams with a score of 10 (nearly 3 times higher than in 2022). This "rain of 9s and 10s" situation may decrease this year. In comments on the exam, some high school teachers said that the exam questions in some subjects have begun to approach the way they were set in 2025 (the first year of the exam according to the 2018 General Education Program). For example, the history subject has questions that provide materials for students to read and then ask them to answer related questions.
Similarly, the subject of civics also has questions that provide information for candidates to determine true or false...
From the analysis of the exam scores, it can be seen that the benchmark scores of the admission combinations may increase slightly. However, the increase or decrease of the benchmark score depends largely on the enrollment plan of each training institution and how many quotas the schools will reserve for admission by the method of high school graduation exam scores.
