This morning (January 9), in Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary To Lam had a meeting with former leaders of the Party and State, exemplary veteran officials and representatives of intellectuals, scientists , artists and writers from southern provinces and cities.
Attending the meeting were Politburo members, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.
In addition, there were also former leaders of the Party and State, including former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former President Truong Tan Sang; Mr. Huynh Dam, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; along with leaders of central ministries, branches, Ho Chi Minh City and typical veteran officials, intellectual representatives, scientists, artists from southern provinces and cities.
At the meeting, the General Secretary and Party and State leaders received and listened to the opinions of Mr. Bui Quang Huy - former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Tra Vinh and Ca Mau provinces; Dr. Cao Dong Vu - Director of the Institute of Nuclear Research; Mr. Nguyen Nho Khiem - Chairman of the Association of Literature and Arts of Da Nang; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuoc - Chairman of the Association of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City;... The delegates expressed their joy and pride in the achievements of the country's socio-economic development in the past year.
The delegates all hope that the country will rise strongly, striving for GDP to reach double digits in the next 5 years. At the same time, they proposed that the leaders of the Party, Government, National Assembly, and Vietnam Fatherland Front pay attention to mechanisms and policies so that intellectuals, scientists, and artists have an environment and space to create, innovate, and continuously develop.
After listening to the delegates' opinions, General Secretary To Lam sincerely thanked the team of intellectuals, scientists, and artists for always paying great attention, especially for giving advice to promote their capacity to contribute to the country's development in the new era.
Sharing about the country's difficulties and challenges, General Secretary To Lam said that currently the country and the world are experiencing many difficulties and challenges, therefore our entire Party, people and army will strive to achieve important achievements and results.
The General Secretary affirmed that 2025 is an important year for our country, the starting year for the country to continue to grow strongly and enter a new era. Therefore, the top priority is to successfully implement the strategic goals by 2030 so that Vietnam can become a modern industrialized country with an upper middle income. By 2045, our country will become a developed country with a high income.
According to General Secretary To Lam, Party and State leaders and all people are determined to unite, join forces, make the most of opportunities and advantages, push back risks and challenges to make a strong breakthrough for the country and achieve the above goals.
Typically, recently, the Politburo passed Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. General Secretary To Lam considered this a breakthrough of top importance. At the same time, it is the main driving force to rapidly develop modern productive forces, perfect production relations, innovate national governance methods, develop the socio-economy, prevent the risk of falling behind, and bring the country to breakthrough development and prosperity in the new era.
The General Secretary expressed his hope and high expectations that the team of intellectuals and scientists will make even stronger contributions, joining the entire Party, people and army in successfully implementing the country's strategic goals. The General Secretary emphasized: "The Party, the State and the People place great trust and expectations on the team of intellectuals and scientists - the core pioneers who create strong innovations and breakthroughs, towards the goal of rapid and sustainable development of the country in the new period."
In the coming time, the General Secretary affirmed that the Party and State will continue to create all conditions, mechanisms and policies for intellectuals and scientists to participate in contributing to the country. In particular, the Party and State will study and promulgate a Resolution on the development of culture, literature and arts; and study and promulgate a National Strategy on building literature and arts in the new era.
At the same time, the National Assembly, the Government, and relevant agencies will coordinate to remove bottlenecks in mechanisms, policies, budgets, etc. to create resources and space for intellectuals, scientists, and artists to create and compose. At the same time, they will participate in the fight against deviant, degraded, and uncultured ideologies.
In the atmosphere of the first days of the new year 2025 and preparation for the traditional Lunar New Year of the nation, General Secretary To Lam, on behalf of the Party and State leaders and with personal feelings, sent sincere thanks and best wishes to former Party and State leaders, exemplary veteran officials and intellectual representatives, scientists, artists of the southern provinces and cities for a new year of good health and happiness.
