General Secretary To Lam attends the 80th anniversary of the General Department of Defense Industry

On the morning of September 15, in Hanoi , the General Department of Defense Industry held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its traditional day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025) and receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission attended the ceremony. Also attending the ceremony were General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense ; Mr. Phan Dinh Trac - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.

On September 15, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed a decree to establish the Military Ordnance Department under the Ministry of National Defense - the predecessor of today's General Department of Defense Industry (GDDI).

Over 8 decades of construction, fighting and growth, generations of cadres, workers and soldiers of the military industry - General Department of Defense Industry have always promoted the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, proactiveness, self-reliance, creativity, overcoming all difficulties, building a clean and strong Party Committee of the General Department of Defense Industry, a comprehensively strong General Department "exemplary and typical", excellently completing the tasks assigned by the Party, State, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense and people.

According to Major General Le Ngoc Than - Political Commissar of the General Department of Defense Industry, in recent years, thoroughly grasping and implementing the Politburo's resolution, the General Department of Defense Industry has been active, proactive, and constantly striving to rise up, strongly promoting the tradition of "Solidarity, self-reliance, initiative, and science", focusing on breakthroughs in scientific research in 5 main directions: Developing new weapons and technical equipment (VKTBKT); repairing and modernizing VKTBKT; producing technical materials; improving product quality; applying new technology, modernizing production lines.

Through scientific research activities and tasks, this agency has developed and modernized hundreds of new types of weapons, ammunition, equipment, technical supplies, and new equipment to replace imports. Among them, many types of weapons and technical equipment have high scientific and technological content, system integration, and are of important significance in military and economic fields such as: XCB-01 infantry fighting vehicle; XTC-01, XTC-02 armored personnel carriers; ship artillery... promptly meeting the requirements of the Army's equipment, training, and combat readiness tasks, serving important events of the country and the world.
