(NLDO) - The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City needs to state a specific opinion on "qualified" or "not qualified" when allowing the establishment of non-public educational institutions.

The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just announced the conclusion of Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy at the meeting to listen to reports on contents related to the dissolution and establishment of multi-level general schools in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the City People's Committee, Ho Chi Minh City requests departments, branches, People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones to coordinate well in the process of appraising dossiers for establishing educational institutions, ensuring the progress of time and content according to the request of the Department of Education and Training. Regarding the content of the written response to the Department of Education and Training, it is requested to clearly state the viewpoint, to the point, and not to write generally.

Regarding the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City requested that after synthesizing the opinions of departments, branches, and localities and submitting an appraisal report to the People's Committee, the department should state its specific opinion on whether it is "qualified" or "not qualified" to allow the establishment of a non-public educational institution. If the conditions for establishment are not met, it is necessary to promptly issue a written response and instruct the unit to supplement according to the provisions of Decree No. 125/2024 of the Government .

According to the assessment of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, currently, Ho Chi Minh City has a number of non-public educational institutions operating in a diverse and complex manner; especially after the merger, this type will increase significantly. "Therefore, it is recommended that the Department of Education and Training of the City proactively coordinate with departments, branches and localities to strengthen the management of non-public educational institutions, promptly grasp the situation of public opinion, minimize incidents that affect the rights of learners, workers and security and order in the area" - the document clearly stated.

Today (August 11), the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City submitted to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for consideration and decision to dissolve the American International School because up to now, the school has not been able to overcome the cause of the suspension and has not been able to report its financial capacity to maintain school operations.

After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City is now the locality with the largest education and training sector in the country with nearly 2.6 million students, about 3,500 schools and 110,000 teachers at all levels.
