Ho Chi Minh City proposes to organize high school graduation exam early, postpone 10th grade exam schedule

(NLDO) - The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City proposed adjusting the time to organize the 2025 high school graduation exam from June 7 to 10.

Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu has just signed a document to send to the Department of Quality Management - Ministry of Education and Training to comment on some contents of the guidelines for organizing the high school graduation exam in 2025.

According to the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, in the context that the whole country is implementing the arrangement and merger of provinces and cities and completing the district-level tasks according to Conclusion 127/2025 of the Politburo and the Secretariat on implementing research and proposing to continue arranging the organization of the political system, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City recommends to the Department of Quality Management - Ministry of Education and Training the content related to the 2025 high school graduation exam, specifically:

Adjust the exam time to be held earlier, from June 7 to 10. At the same time, promptly issue directive documents, organization plans and exam schedules so that the Departments of Education and Training can proactively advise the People's Committees of provinces and cities to promptly implement in their localities.

The document of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City clearly stated that these adjustments are aimed at ensuring the rights of students, stabilizing the psychology of parents and students, and at the same time facilitating the preparation work of localities to organize the exam safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

Candidates taking a 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City

Talking to a reporter from the Lao Dong Newspaper , Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the above proposal comes from the reality that the end of June is the time when the whole country is urgently implementing the arrangement and merger of provinces and cities and completing the district-level tasks according to Conclusion 127/2025 of the Politburo and the Secretariat on implementing research and proposing to continue to arrange the organization of the political system.

If the high school graduation exam is organized at this stage, it will be rushed and not thorough enough. On the other hand, at the beginning of June, students have finished studying and reviewing to prepare for the exam, organizing the exam earlier will not affect the candidates.

Mr. Minh added that not only Ho Chi Minh City, but also some other localities have proposed organizing the high school graduation exam earlier than expected.

Answering the reporter's question about the time of holding the high school graduation exam, which is also the time Ho Chi Minh City plans to hold the 10th grade exam? Mr. Minh said that the 10th grade exam is organized by the locality, and the exam schedule can be proactively adjusted compared to the original plan.

Previously, the 10th grade exam in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City was "finalized" for June 6 and 7. The high school graduation exam in 2025 is scheduled for June 26 and 27.
