On the morning of March 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board (abbreviated as the Urban Infrastructure Board) inaugurated the embankment and tidal culvert project on Cau Sap canal in District 8.

The project has two packages including: construction of a 563 m long dike, a 3.5 m wide road surface and a tidal sluice.

In particular, the reinforced concrete tidal sluice combined with a 15 m wide gate valve, operated by a hydraulic cylinder controlled on site, combined with remote control through a monitoring and data collection system.

The total investment of the Project is nearly 237 billion VND, from the City budget.

The tidal sluice gate can be controlled remotely through the monitoring system.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the HCM City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that when completed, the project will prevent high tides from the Can Giuoc River from entering Ward 7, District 8 and Phong Phu Commune, Binh Chanh District, helping to reduce flooding for people in these two areas.
