Vietnamese fruits are always favored by consumers in China.

Mr. Ha A Dong affirmed that in the coming time, he will seriously implement the important consensus between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, promoting the improvement of quality and upgrading of economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam.

Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman Ha A Dong emphasized that in recent years, trade between China and Vietnam has developed rapidly, and investment cooperation has achieved remarkable results.

China is Vietnam's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade exceeding 200 billion USD for three consecutive years, continuing to reach 145.07 billion USD in the first seven months of 2024, up 20.9% over the same period last year.

“China is the largest export market for Vietnamese agricultural products. Vietnamese fruits such as durian and dragon fruit are very popular with Chinese consumers. Agricultural products imported from Vietnam account for about one-fifth of the total value of agricultural products imported from ASEAN countries,” said Mr. Ha A Dong.

In the field of investment cooperation, according to spokesman Ha A Dong, Vietnam is an important foreign investment destination for China. From January to July this year, Chinese companies directly invested 1.84 billion USD in Vietnam, maintaining a rapid growth rate.

“The Ministry of Commerce (of China) will seriously implement the important consensus reached between the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, China and Vietnam, taking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year as an opportunity to promote the improvement of quality and upgrade of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries,” Mr. Ha A Dong affirmed.

Regarding specific measures, the spokesperson said that the Chinese Ministry of Commerce will strengthen bilateral trade cooperation and support businesses on both sides to make full use of platforms such as the China International Import Expo (CIIE), the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), and the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO).

Expand trade exchanges of high-quality agricultural products and industrial products; create new momentum for investment cooperation, promote mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as digital economy and green development; deepen supply chain cooperation, and support both sides to strengthen cooperation between industrial parks and localities.

Promote trade facilitation and industrial development linkage; promote in-depth regional economic integration, accelerate negotiations on the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area version 3.0, continue to promote the benefits brought by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and contribute more to the development and prosperity of the region.
