Picture Mother's Gift by Le Pho was sold for 600,000 euros (more than 16 billion VND) - the highest price of the session. The painting was created between 1935 and 1945, painted with ink and color on silk.

According to the auction house, the work depicts the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus with strokes bearing strong Vietnamese imprints. The characters’ costumes are also made of traditional Vietnamese silk.

The second highest-priced painting of the session was also a work by Le Pho, whose name is Lady and the Parrot painted in 1938. The work was sold for 315,000 euros (more than 8 billion VND).

Le Pho often included images of birds, including parrots, in his works. The auction house commented that the main character in the painting was intentionally placed in the center, the largest position, taking up 3/4 of the painting's surface.

The second figure was a parrot stretching its neck and chirping. The hostess stood there, one hand raised towards the parrot, the other holding a bowl of food.

"All the details focus on expressing the mentality of a mature, independent woman with a strong personality. Le Pho's thinking about shapes and colors makes the painting gentle," the company said. Millon describe.
