Giving breeding cows to farmers

For many ethnic minority households, a cow has long been a great asset, a “lifetime savings”. Therefore, when receiving a breeding cow, people could not hide their emotions. Holding a rope leading the cow home, Ms. Ho Thi Hong (Ka Va village) said: “We are only familiar with farming, raising a few chickens and ducks, and buying a cow is something we dare not think about. Now that we have a breeding cow, and the soldiers have shown us how to raise and build a barn, I believe I will escape poverty and my children will be able to go to school.” That joy also spreads in the eyes and smiles of the children running around the new herd of cows. For many families, this is not just a pet, but a hope for a new beginning.

Unlike other simple support models, Economic-Defense Group 92 pays special attention to providing technical guidance so that people know how to care for and effectively exploit the support from breeding cows. Before the handover day, officers, employees and young volunteers of Economic-Defense Group 92 went to each village, worked with people to build barns, clear land to plant grass, and disseminate information on how to choose food and prevent and treat common diseases for cows.

Mr. Truong Toan Thang, Head of the Economic Department of A Luoi 4 Commune, said: The meaning here is not only to support breeding animals, but also to help people change their thinking about production and animal husbandry. People know how to apply new techniques, unite and support each other, forming a sustainable economic development model. The commune government coordinates with Economic-Defense Group 92 to monitor and support people in taking care of the cows, so that the program can truly bring long-term effectiveness.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Phuc, Deputy Head of the 92nd Economic-Defense Group, this time the unit has given 120 breeding cows and many essential agricultural supplies to poor households in the A So - A Luoi area, within the framework of the socio-economic development project for ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period 2021 - 2030. At the same time, he emphasized: We determined that giving cows is just the beginning; more importantly, it is to accompany the people for a long time, from technical guidance, supervising the raising process until the cows grow well. With the motto "Soldiers eat together, live together, work together, and help people develop together", we hope that people will feel secure in production and trust in the Party, the State and the Army".
