The forces respectfully offered incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives at Chin Ham.
Before the opening of the exhibition, Hue City Museum of History held a flower and incense offering ceremony. Commemorating the heroic martyrs and patriots who sacrificed their lives at the "hell on earth" Nine Tunnels.
Since 1941, the French colonialists built the Nine Tunnels area to store materials and weapons. Under the Ngo Dinh Diem and Ngo Dinh Can regimes, the Nine Tunnels were converted into tiger cages to detain revolutionary soldiers and patriotic movement participants... and hundreds of lives were forced to death in the prisons here.
Nine Tunnels was recognized as a national historical site in 1993, a testament to the patriotism and indomitable strength of our people.
The soldiers remained loyal to the Party and the revolutionary ideals, striving to overcome material deprivation, exile, and brutality of the Ngo Dinh Diem regime to live and return to the people.
Visit the exhibition space "Memories of the time of war"
The thematic exhibition “Memories of the Wartime” at the historical site of Chin Ham introduces nearly 120 typical images, documents and artifacts. Thereby, spreading more deeply the meaning of the birth of War Invalids and Martyrs Day; the attention of the Party, the State and all classes of people to the work of gratitude.
In particular, through documents and artifacts, we will recall the heroic years of struggle of the nation. Each souvenir is associated with a touching story about the life, fighting spirit and noble sacrifice of the soldiers, the people who made glorious victories to contribute to adding more color to the golden history of the nation.
Young people visit and learn through documents and artifacts displayed at the historical site of Chin Ham.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Loc, Director of Hue City History Museum, said: Through the activity, we aim to honor the great contributions of our ancestors in the struggle for national liberation and protection of the Fatherland; and promote the fine tradition of the nation on the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" in the whole society.
At the same time, spread and educate the tradition of patriotism and revolutionary heroism to all classes of people, especially the young generation. Contribute to the best implementation of the Party and State's policies, guidelines and laws on the work of war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution.
