According to Xinhua News Agency, on July 10, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said it would launch a formal investigation into trade and investment barriers regarding relevant regulations that the European Union (EU) applied in its anti-subsidy investigation against Chinese companies.
The investigation was conducted at the request of the National Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Equipment.
The complaints mainly covered products such as locomotives, photovoltaic equipment, wind power, and security inspections.
The investigation may last until January 10, 2025, and may be extended by three months in exceptional circumstances.
Trade relations between the EU and China have escalated in recent months after Brussels announced temporary tariffs of up to 38.1% on electric cars imported from the Asian partner, effective July 4.
