Central Youth Union visits former First Secretary Dang Quoc Bao

On the morning of September 18 at the National Funeral House ( Hanoi ), a delegation of the Central Youth Union attended the funeral of Major General Dang Quoc Bao, former head of the Central Science and Education Committee, former first secretary of the Central Youth Union.

The delegation attending the funeral included Mr. Bui Quang Huy - First Secretary of the Central Youth Union and members of the Central Youth Union Secretariat. Also attending were former First Secretaries of the Central Youth Union through the periods.

At exactly 7am, the funeral service for Major General Dang Quoc Bao began. Mr. Bui Quang Huy and the delegation of the Central Youth Union burned incense, bowed respectfully, and expressed their infinite condolences to the spirit of Major General Dang Quoc Bao.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , Major General Dang Quoc Bao was born on May 1, 1927, in Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province.

Due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 9:02 a.m. on September 15 (August 13, year of the Dragon), at the age of 97.

Major General Dang Quoc Bao - former First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, term IV

He was a member of the 4th Party Central Committee, head of the 4th Party Central Committee's Science and Education Commission (now the Central Propaganda Commission), and first secretary of the 4th Central Youth Union (1978 - 1982).

He joined the revolution in May 1945 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam that year. In February 1947, he enlisted in the army and was assigned to the Military Political School, head of the Political Department of Regiment 140.

During his military service, he held many different positions such as battalion political commissar, then political commissar of Regiment 88, political commissar of the F308 Pioneer Army Corps, chief of the General Political Department's office, political commissar of Division 308, political commissar of the Engineering Department - General Staff, political commissar of Division 330, and political commissar of the Northwest Military Region.

He then worked as secretary of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, political commissar and principal of the Military Technical University (now the Military Technical Academy). In 1974, he was promoted to the rank of major general.

In September 1976, Major General Dang Quoc Bao transferred to the civil service. He held the positions of Deputy Minister of Universities and Vocational Secondary Schools, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Deputy Head and then Head of the Central Science and Education Committee.

Major General Dang Quoc Bao has been awarded many medals by the Party and State such as: First-class Independence Medal, Military Exploit Medal (first, second, third classes), First-class Resistance Medal and many other medals.
