Van Don builds vital traffic network

Identifying the transport network as the lifeblood of the economy , in 2024, Van Don district will pay special attention to disbursing public investment capital to build key transport works, creating close connections between local regions with the commencement of construction, repair and upgrading of 14 transport works.

Mr. Tran Quoc Viet, Director of the District Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: Despite many difficulties in weather, natural disasters, and construction material sources, traffic projects were completed according to the set plan, ensuring people's safe travel and a convenient New Year. In 2025, the district will continue to implement 11 traffic projects, creating momentum for a synchronous traffic infrastructure system, creating momentum for socio-economic development.

The renewed and expanded traffic infrastructure has helped Van Don district develop in many aspects in 2024.

In 2024, Van Don is also one of the localities in the province that disburses high public investment capital. The total public investment capital plan assigned to district-level investors after balancing is 612,489 million VND. Immediately after allocating the plan, the District People's Committee requested investors to concentrate machinery and equipment to speed up the progress of transitional projects, newly started projects, and finalize completed projects. By December 10, 2024, the district disbursed nearly 350 billion VND, reaching 56.2% of the yearly plan.

Many projects put into operation have been highly effective, such as: Project to build infrastructure for resettlement area in Ha Long commune (16,548 million VND); project on technical infrastructure and social infrastructure for resettlement area, administrative area serving land clearance project of Quang Ninh airport: 10,011 million VND; Project to renovate, upgrade and overcome consequences of rain and flood (phase 2) of Ban Sen - Tan Lap road (32,454 million VND)...

Continuing to complete key projects transitioning in 2024 and new ones in 2025, in the coming time, the district will urgently and resolutely complete investment procedures, select contractors to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures for early construction; proactively coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to promptly handle procedures according to regulations.

The Ninh Hai-Nam Hai inter-village road in Minh Chau commune is being paved to ensure completion on schedule before New Year's Day 2025.

Mr. Vu Duc Huong, Chairman of the District People's Committee, said: Van Don will further strengthen the inspection and supervision of construction quality of projects, resolutely not allowing violations of investment procedures and poor quality of works; pay attention to directing the preparation, examination and approval of completed project settlements, not allowing projects to violate the prescribed deadline, requiring investors to closely monitor the volume and quality of completed works, absolutely not leaving any outstanding debts of construction and installation. At the same time, direct the review, classification and assessment of the quality of design consultants, supervision consultants, and construction contractors implementing the projects; resolutely eliminate contractors with poor quality, lack of responsibility, and lack of prestige, associated with strengthening training, further improving the quality of bidding work, to promptly take measures to handle problems when they arise.
