Every year, in the seventh lunar month, Mr. Do Khac Hung, 70 years old, in Tan An 1 village, Bao Ha commune, eagerly waits for the persimmons in his garden to ripen so he can pick them and sell them to traders who have pre-ordered them.
This year, when the persimmon season comes, Mr. Hung’s family is very excited to welcome people and tourists attending the Bao Ha Temple Festival to visit, experience picking persimmons and enjoy ripe persimmons right in the garden. The ancient persimmon garden has become an attractive destination, leaving many emotions for those who come to experience it.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Thu could not help but be amazed by the dozens-year-old rose trees laden with fruit. Although she is a resident of Bao Ha commune, Ms. Thu said she has rarely seen such a beautiful ancient rose garden anywhere.
Ms. Thu said: For many years, during the persimmon season, we often buy persimmons as gifts to send to friends in the provinces. When enjoying Bao Ha crispy persimmons, everyone praised them as delicious. Bao Ha seedless persimmons have long been famous, this is a crispy, sweet persimmon, so it is very suitable to order as a gift for tourists.
Mr. Do Khac Hung - the owner of the ancient rose garden is very excited because this year's rose season has many people and tourists coming to visit. Mr. Hung said that his family's ancient rose garden has trees planted since 1972, which are now more than 50 years old, and the trees planted later are also 25 years old. Looking with the naked eye, you can see that the old rose trees have trunks and roots that are nearly 1 person can hug, the trees grow tall, the foliage is lush, and the branches are heavy with fruit.

Mr. Do Khac Hung shared: My family's ancient rose garden has an area of over 1 hectare, in years of good fruit harvest, 7-8 tons of persimmons are harvested. The average price of soaked persimmons is from 10-12 thousand/1 kg, at the end of the season it is about 15-20 thousand. Bao Ha persimmons ripen in the fall, from the 7th lunar month onwards. When the fruit is fully ripe, it will be red, the skin will be plump, and look very attractive. However, the time when persimmons can be harvested is when the skin turns from green to yellow. At that time, people will pick the persimmons and soak them in water for about 3 days and 3 nights to remove some of the astringency. At this time, the persimmons have a crispy, sweet taste, and you will remember it forever after eating it once.
Not only Mr. Hung's family, in Bao Ha commune there are currently hundreds of other households growing persimmons. Identifying this as a fruit tree that brings stable income to the people, the commune government encourages people to preserve and take good care of old persimmon gardens and expand the area of new persimmon planting associated with tourism development, at the same time sending agricultural extension officers to guide people in harvesting fruit and taking care of persimmon trees to ensure technical standards.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huan, an agricultural extension worker of Bao Ha commune, said: Seedless persimmons reach the highest standard when they turn yellow. Therefore, we instruct people to start harvesting the fruit in the seventh lunar month. During the harvest, do not harvest all at once but harvest gradually because the persimmons ripen in different batches. After harvesting, agricultural extension workers and agricultural workers will instruct people to prune and shape the tree canopy, then fertilize the tree to help it grow. The fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer to ensure the soil has enough nutrients for the tree.

In the past 10 years, seedless persimmon trees in Bao Ha have brought a stable source of income to many households and have been identified by the locality as a fruit tree that contributes to the economic development of the people. Seedless persimmon is one of the fruit trees with high nutritional and economic value, selected by the agricultural sector as a product to be included in the provincial "One Commune One Product" program.
Every year, in the 7th lunar month, Bao Ha commune organizes the Bao Ha Temple Festival, attracting tens of thousands of tourists to visit and worship. This is also an opportunity for the commune to introduce local specialties for tourists to enjoy. Bao Ha seedless persimmons are a precious gift of this land, following tourists to all regions. It is known that in 2024 alone, the people of Bao Ha commune (old) earned more than 2 billion VND from this fruit.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of Bao Ha Commune People's Committee, currently, Bao Ha seedless persimmon has been recognized as a 3-star OCOP product and has been recognized by the Intellectual Property Department with the collective trademark "Bao Ha seedless persimmon", affirming its reputation and quality, contributing to bringing the product to consumers. In the coming time, Bao Ha Commune authorities will continue to propagate and mobilize people to preserve, care for and improve the quality of seedless persimmon products associated with local tourism development.
