Vietnam welcomes the recent verdict of the Seoul Court of Appeals, a verdict that reflects historical truth and contributes to realizing the spirit of "putting the past behind and looking toward the future."
On January 22, in response to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's opinion on the Seoul Court of Appeals (South Korea) upholding its ruling, requiring the Korean government to compensate more than 30 million won (20,000 USD) to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, who lost her family in the Quang Nam massacre in 1968.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: "Vietnam welcomes the recent ruling of the Seoul Court of Appeals, a ruling that reflects historical truth, contributing to realizing the spirit of "putting the past behind, looking toward the future."
"With this viewpoint, Vietnam wishes to work with Korea to further develop the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries; take practical actions to overcome the consequences of war, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the friendship and good cooperative relations between the two countries and peoples"./.
