During the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that Vietnam will always stand side by side with Cuba, continuing to strengthen the exemplary brotherly relationship, solidarity, and loyalty between the Parties, States, and people of the two countries. According to the General Secretary , the Party, State, and people of Vietnam are determined to consolidate and further strengthen the special friendship, traditional solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba. In particular, the relationship between the two Parties is the political foundation and orientation for the development of bilateral cooperation in all fields. The General Secretary asked the Cuban National Assembly to continue to prioritize support for economic, trade, and investment cooperation, creating favorable conditions for cooperation projects that practically serve the development of both countries.
On the same day, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam always closely follows the situation in Cuba; shares the difficulties and challenges Cuba is facing; and firmly believes that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, the brotherly country of Cuba will continue to firmly defend the achievements of the revolution and gain new victories in the cause of national construction and development.
The Prime Minister also shared Vietnam 's lessons on innovation in thinking and working methods in the process of economic development, breaking the embargo, opening up and integrating internationally; affirming the need to promote all resources for development, especially the role of the private economic sector as an important driving force for the development of the Vietnamese economy.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to implement measures to support Cuba in a practical and specific manner, especially agricultural projects following the business model to support food security in Cuba, as well as other important fields of energy and biotechnology.
The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides closely coordinate to implement agreements between the two countries' high-ranking leaders in recent times and those signed during this visit, improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between the two countries through the Party, State, Government, National Assembly channels and between ministries and local sectors; and continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.
Previously, also on October 1, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Cuban National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernández co-chaired the second session of the Vietnam -Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that over the past 65 years, the Vietnam -Cuba relationship has been continuously strengthened, becoming a symbol of pure and loyal international solidarity. The two countries' National Assemblies play a core role in promoting cooperation, contributing to deepening bilateral relations through perfecting policies and laws, creating a favorable foundation for economic, educational, health, scientific and technological cooperation.
Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernández expressed his emotion at the special relationship between the two countries and stressed the importance of realizing the contents agreed upon by the leaders of the two National Assemblies. He affirmed that Cuba values the participation of Vietnamese enterprises in the economic development process, especially in the Mariel Development Zone, where Vietnam is the largest Asian investor.
At the meeting, the two sides heard reports from agencies and ministries on the cooperation situation, discussed measures to remove difficulties, and expand cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, agriculture, health, and biotechnology. The two National Assembly Chairmen agreed to strengthen consultation on lawmaking, promote Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Cuba, expand local cooperation, and closely coordinate at international parliamentary forums.
The session ended in a spirit of friendship and solidarity, affirming the determination of both National Assemblies to develop Vietnam - Cuba relations in a practical, effective and sustainable manner.
