According to a VNA reporter in China, the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) will take place from September 17 to 21, attracting more than 3,200 enterprises from 60 countries to participate in the exhibition with a total exhibition area of over 160,000 square meters, of which one-third of the area is reserved for foreign pavilions to introduce the latest cooperation results between ASEAN countries and China.

This year's fair has the theme "Digital intelligence drives development - Innovation leads the future - Seizing new opportunities of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) version 3.0 to build a Community of shared future."

Over the years, Vietnam has always attached importance to CAEXPO and sent high-level delegations to participate in the largest fairs among ASEAN countries.

At this year's CAEXPO, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh will lead a high-ranking delegation from the Vietnamese Government to attend the fair, and will join leaders from countries such as China, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, etc. and the ASEAN Secretary General in attending the opening ceremony to discuss policy orientations for cooperation and mutual development.

In an interview with VNA reporters before CAEXPO, Ms. Vi Trieu Huy - Secretary General of CAEXPO, Director of Guangxi International Exhibition Bureau - highly appreciated the role of Vietnam demonstrated through many consecutive years of participating in the fair with the largest scale among ASEAN countries.

It is expected that at this year's CAEXPO, Vietnam will continue to have its own booth with the largest area (about 3,900 square meters) to introduce and display products, with a total of over 100 participating businesses.

Notably, among the Vietnamese enterprises participating in CAEXPO this year, there are enterprises that have participated in the fair since its early stages on a small scale, and have now achieved success in penetrating the Chinese market.

There are also new businesses attending the fair for the first time and attach great importance to cooperation with China in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Another difference at this year's fair is the addition of new exhibition areas, such as areas dedicated to AI, new quality manufacturing forces, and high-quality commercial products from various countries.

According to Lu Xinning, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, this year's fair will focus on two main areas: economic and trade cooperation and AI demonstration, in which AI is the highlight with the first-ever AI booth and a new 10,000-square-meter quality production force booth.

The first China-ASEAN Ministerial Forum on AI will also be held to discuss the development of AI. In addition, many powerful AI products from China and ASEAN countries will be introduced at the fair.

Ms. Lu Xinning added that the CAEXPO and the 22nd Summit coincided with the completion of negotiations on the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement version 3.0 and the two sides are about to sign the Protocol. Version 3.0 includes 9 key areas, the first of which is the digital economy. This shows that the digital economy, represented by AI, has become a new driving force for China-ASEAN cooperation. Therefore, this year's CAEXPO highlights the AI theme to closely follow the country's requirements, serving the implementation of version 3.0 with ASEAN countries to join hands to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the AI era.

According to Ms. Lu Tan Ninh, up to now, Guangxi has signed a memorandum of understanding on AI cooperation with 8 ASEAN countries, including Vietnam. Identified as the place to establish the China-ASEAN AI Innovation Center, Guangxi has now planned an area of 7.78 square kilometers in Nanning to attract AI enterprises from Vietnam and ASEAN.

According to statistics, in recent years, ASEAN-China economic and trade exchanges have maintained a good growth momentum. China has been ASEAN's largest trading partner for 16 years; ASEAN has also been China's largest trading partner for 5 years.

Two-way trade turnover in 2024 between China and five ASEAN countries, namely Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore, will all exceed 100 billion USD, of which two-way trade turnover with Vietnam and Malaysia will exceed 200 billion USD.

In the first seven months of this year, the trade volume between China and ASEAN reached 597 billion USD, up 8.2 percent year-on-year and accounting for 16.7 percent of China's total trade turnover in the same period.

Regarding investment cooperation, by the end of July, two-way investment between ASEAN and China had exceeded 450 billion USD. The two sides are actively expanding cooperation in the fields of digital economy, e-commerce, and green development. In particular, cooperation in the industry-supply chain is increasingly close. The two sides also strengthen industry connections, contributing to promoting the prosperous socio-economic development of the region.

In terms of regional economic integration, ASEAN and China have completed negotiations on the Free Trade Area version 3.0, systematically building a cooperation framework for the entire block chain connecting the “hardware” and “software” of digital infrastructure for the first time, further perfecting the regulations.

The trade and investment facilitation mechanism is increasingly effective. Regional economic links between China and ASEAN countries are constantly being strengthened in both breadth and depth./.
