Incident of wrongly recording scores, candidates went from failing to passing: No negative

On the afternoon of October 9, Mr. Vu Ngoc Liem, Chairman of the Examination Board of Ngoc Lac High School, Thanh Hoa province, said that the unit had accepted responsibility and apologized to parents and candidates of Ngoc Lac High School for the error of recording the wrong scores in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year.

Mr. Liem said this was an unfortunate incident, due to work pressure and lack of concentration, the scoring team made a mistake.

"This was a completely unintentional mistake, there was no negativity. After receiving the directive from the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, the school organized a review of collective and individual responsibilities for the mistake," said Mr. Liem.

Previously, as reported by Dan Tri newspaper , after the end of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year, the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training received a petition reflecting that CTH candidate, exam room number 6, Examination Council of Le Hong Phong High School (Bim Son town) had average academic performance, but the entrance exam score for 10th grade was unusually high.

Upon receiving the feedback, the Inspectorate of the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training has stepped in. Through inspection and verification, it was found that the test scores of the candidates on the name board and score sheet were not consistent with the scores recorded on the candidates' test papers.

Specifically, the scores on the board are: math 8, literature 8.5 and English 6.4. Meanwhile, the scores on the actual exam of the candidate are: math 4.5, literature 6.5 and English 2.4.

Thus, the total score of all 3 subjects on the candidate's score sheet is 9.5 points higher than the actual score recorded on the exam. After calculating the total score and re-examining, candidate CTH was not admitted to Le Hong Phong High School for the 2024-2025 school year.
