The project focuses on ensuring community safety, promoting economic connectivity and strengthening provincial capacity in infrastructure management.
“This project focuses on ensuring community safety, promoting economic connectivity, and strengthening provincial capacity to manage infrastructure, thereby creating jobs and promoting long-term, sustainable growth,” said Mariam J. Sherman, World Bank Country Director for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Lao PDR.
In Da Nang city, the project will dredge river flows and build flood channels to reduce flooding in densely populated districts, while protecting essential services such as schools and hospitals.
In Gia Lai province, the project will elevate and reinforce key roads and bridges to maintain year-round connectivity from the Central Highlands to Quy Nhon Port — an important export gateway for agricultural and industrial goods.
The nearly $145 million loan provided by the World Bank will support the Integrated Resilience Development Project, in line with Vietnam's national strategies on disaster risk management and sustainable infrastructure development.
