The first representatives in Africa have got tickets to the 2026 World Cup. Morocco is the first team in this continent to win the right to participate in the world's number one football tournament. After last night's series of matches, Africa has confirmed another representative, Tunisia.

Before the 8th match in Group H, Tunisia has 7 points more than the second-placed team Namibia (3 rounds left). Tunisia only meets the not-so-strong opponent Equatorial Guinea on away field. If they win this match, coach Sami Trabelsi's team will automatically have a ticket to the next round without having to worry about Namibia's match.
Tunisia completed the task by defeating Equatorial Guinea 1-0 thanks to the only goal of Ben Romdhane in the 90+4 minute.
Thus, Tunisia has 22 points after 8 matches, 10 points more than the second-placed team Namibia and has played 1 more match. Even if they win all three remaining matches, Namibia will not be able to catch up with Tunisia's score.
This is Tunisia's 7th World Cup appearance in history. In all 6 previous appearances (1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018, 2022), the team failed to get past the group stage.

In the 2026 World Cup finals, Africa will have 9.5 places (9 direct places and 1 place to participate in the Intercontinental play-off). With the current situation, Egypt, South Africa, and Algeria will likely be the next names on this continent to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
Thus, up to now, FIFA has determined 18 teams participating in the 2026 World Cup including Canada, Mexico, the US (host), Australia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, South Korea, Uzbekistan (Asia), New Zealand (Oceania), Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay (South America) and Morocco, Tunisia (Africa).
