A tourist reported on social media that bread from a major brand in Da Nang had maggots crawling around on it, and the authorities immediately checked and verified the situation.

On July 16, the People's Committee of An Hai Ward, Da Nang City, said it had sent officials to inspect and verify reports of maggots appearing in bread from a major brand in the area.

Previously, a clip appeared on social media recording a scene of a half-eaten hamburger with maggots crawling inside.

This clip shows a partially eaten hamburger when the user discovers many maggots crawling around a slice of tomato. In the clip, a voice can be heard saying: "Hey, it's in tomatoes or meat or something, not old bread, so you ate maggots."

According to the person filming the clip, the hamburger was bought at the BH sandwich shop on Nguyen Van Thoai Street, An Hai Ward, Da Nang City on the morning of July 16.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of the Da Nang City Food Safety Management Board said they had received the above information and were coordinating with An Hai Ward authorities to check and verify the tourists' feedback.

An Hai Ward People's Committee also said that on the same day, the ward's functional forces worked with the store to verify the above information.

The ward checks documents such as business licenses, food safety certificates, then checks the processing and storage areas, sample storage areas, etc.

The People's Committee of An Hai Ward said it will work with the person who reported the information to clarify the report and related requests. At the same time, it will extract camera footage to clarify the time of the incident.
