1. What vehicles can be driven with a B2 license?

According to Clause 6, 7, Article 16 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, Class B2 driver's license is issued to drivers to drive the following types of vehicles:

- Specialized vehicles with a design load of less than 3,500 kg;

- Types of vehicles specified for class B1 driving license, including:

+ Passenger cars with up to 9 seats, including the driver's seat;

+ Trucks, including specialized trucks with a design load of less than 3,500 kg;

+ Tractor pulling a trailer with a design load of less than 3,500 kg.

2. Conditions for taking the B2 driving license exam in 2023

- Being a Vietnamese citizen, a foreigner who is allowed to reside or is working or studying in Vietnam.

- 18 years old (as of the driving test date).

- About cultural level: Not required.

- Not suffering from diseases in group 3 of Appendix No. 1 issued with Joint Circular 24/2015/TTLT-BYT-BGTVT.

3. B2 driving license exam application

A1 driving license exam application documents include:

- Application for studying and testing to obtain a driving license according to the form prescribed in Appendix 7 issued with Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT;

- A copy of the identity card or citizen identification card or valid passport with the identity card number or citizen identification card number for Vietnamese people; a valid passport for Vietnamese people residing abroad;

- Copy of passport valid for more than 06 months and temporary residence card or permanent residence card or diplomatic identity card or official identity card for foreigners;

- Driver's health certificate issued by a competent medical facility as prescribed.

4. What parts does the B2 driving test include?

B2 driving test includes 4 parts:

(1) Theory

- The B2 driving license theory test consists of 35 questions including:

+ 01 question about the concept;

+ 01 question about serious traffic safety situations;

+ 07 questions about traffic rules;

+ 01 question about transportation services;

+ 01 question about speed and distance;

+ 01 question about traffic culture and driver ethics;

+ 02 questions about driving techniques;

+ 01 question about repair structure;

+ 10 questions about road sign system;

+ 10 questions about solving traffic situations and skills to handle traffic situations.

(2) Simulation test

The examinee handles simulated situations that appear on the computer. The test consists of 10 situations, each with a maximum score of 5 points.

(3) Criminal record

Candidates must follow the correct order and drive the vehicle through the test exercises arranged at the test center such as: starting, stopping the vehicle to give way to pedestrians, stopping and starting the vehicle on a slope, through wheel tracks and perpendicular curves, through intersections with traffic lights, through winding curves, parking (parallel or longitudinal), stopping at a railway crossing, operating in dangerous situations, changing gears on a flat road, and finishing.

(4) Road driving test

The test candidate drives the test car, handles traffic situations and carries out the examiner's commands.

5. How many points is required to pass the B2 driving test?

- For the theory test:

Candidates must answer 35 questions in 22 minutes. If they answer 32/35 questions correctly and do not miss a failing question, they will be considered to have passed the theory test and will be allowed to continue with the simulation test.

- For the simulation test:

A test consists of 10 situations, each situation has a maximum score of 5 points.

Candidates who score 35/50 points pass this test and can continue to the driving test.

- For the driving test:

Candidates must achieve at least 80/100 points to pass and practice driving on the road.

- For the road test:

Candidates who score at least 80/100 points will be recognized as successful and granted a Class B2 driver's license.
