139 excellent students are exempted from the 2024 high school graduation exam and will be directly admitted to university.

On May 22, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch No. 2358/BGDĐT-QLCL on exemption from the high school graduation exam and direct admission to universities and colleges in 2024.

Nguyen Le Quoc Bao and Le Tuan Hy, 12th grade students of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City, won Second Prize at the 2024 International Science and Technology Competition.

According to this document, in the exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in international and regional Olympic competitions in 2024, there are 139 12th grade students participating in the exam. The Ministry of Education and Training requests the Departments of Education and Training to exempt the 2024 high school graduation exam according to regulations for candidates on the list.

The Ministry of Education and Training also requested universities, academies, colleges and junior colleges to conduct direct admission to universities and colleges in 2024 according to regulations for candidates on the list.

3 cases are exempted from all high school graduation exams as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training in the high school graduation exam regulations.

Specifically, the first case is the person summoned to participate in the national team selection exam for the International Olympic or Regional Olympic cultural subjects, if he/she meets the following conditions: being summoned in the second semester of grade 12; being classified as having good conduct for the entire year of grade 12 and having good academic performance or higher; being on the list of exemptions from the exam of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The second case is a person in a team participating in international or regional Olympic competitions in science, technology, culture and arts, if he/she meets the following conditions: being called up in the second semester of grade 12; being ranked for the entire year of grade 12 with average conduct and academic performance or above; having his/her name in the official dispatch requesting exemption from the exam and confirming to attend training and take the exam in accordance with the regulations of the selection agency sent to the Department of Education and Training before the high school graduation exam date.

The third case is people with extremely severe disabilities and people with severe disabilities as prescribed in Clause 1, Clause 2, Article 3, Decree No. 28/2012/ND-CP of the Government ; resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals with a labor capacity reduction of 61% or more; children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals, who themselves have a labor capacity reduction of 61% or more.

These cases must meet the conditions. Specifically, for people with disabilities studying under the general education program, they must complete the high school program; meet the requirements to take the exam according to regulations; and have a certificate of disability issued by a competent authority.

For people with disabilities who do not meet the general education program, the principal of the high school where they register to study must confirm the results of implementing the individual education plan each year at the high school level; and have a certificate of disability issued by a competent authority.

For resistance fighters and children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals, they must complete high school; meet the requirements to take the exam according to regulations; have a certificate of being infected with toxic chemicals and having a labor capacity reduction of 61% or more issued by a competent authority.
