According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, traffic order and safety in Hanoi and neighboring localities are guaranteed, with no prolonged traffic jams or serious traffic accidents.
At around 3:00 p.m. on August 30, traffic volume increased on inner-city routes and gateway routes of Hanoi Capital due to people moving out of Hanoi to other localities at the beginning of the holiday, leading to prolonged congestion, slow and difficult movement of vehicles (Phap Van, Thang Long Bridge, Phu Dong Bridge, Co Linh). In particular, in the southern gateway area (Phap Van, Giai Phong), traffic volume increased very high.
At the southern gateway, traffic congestion occurred mainly at the intersections of Giai Phong - Kim Dong and Giai Phong - Phap Van due to traffic conflicts between roads with high traffic volume and some points under construction and repair of traffic infrastructure. The authorities deployed 100% of their personnel to ensure order, traffic safety and traffic control to prevent congestion. By 10:00 p.m., traffic volume had decreased and traffic returned to normal.
On the morning of August 31, traffic volume increased on the elevated Ring Road 3, especially the section from Khuat Duy Tien towards Phap Van due to traffic collisions. Hanoi City Police proactively resolved, regulated, and diverted traffic. In the inner city, traffic situation was stable.
At the intersection of Ring Road 3 - Giai Phong - National Highway 1 (Nuoc Ngam bus station area), traffic volume increased suddenly. By 10:30 a.m., traffic volume decreased, traffic situation was stable, vehicles moved according to the regulation of functional forces.
In Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring localities, on August 30, traffic at the city's gateways and on the two expressways Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan had high traffic volume, vehicles moved slowly, and authorities coordinated to regulate and separate traffic from a distance, preventing traffic jams.
On National Highway 60, the Rach Mieu bridge area connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, on August 30, traffic was heavy and moving slowly when going up the bridge. Rach Mieu toll station was released from 3:34 p.m. to 3:47 p.m. Tien Giang and Ben Tre provincial police coordinated to regulate traffic flow from a distance, avoiding prolonged and serious traffic jams.
Ho Chi Minh City Police and relevant units have proactively coordinated to regulate traffic flow to ensure safe movement of vehicles and to avoid prolonged traffic jams.
During the day, local police inspected, detected, and handled 12,636 violations; imposed fines of over VND26.5 billion; detained 178 cars, 3,639 motorbikes, and 138 other vehicles; revoked 2,353 driver's licenses. Of which, 2,572 were violations of alcohol concentration; 2,921 were violations of speed; 132 were overloaded; 31 were oversized; and 15 were drug violations.
On National Highway 1A, the police force detected and recorded 1,784 violations, fined nearly 2.7 billion VND; revoked 280 driving licenses, and detained 261 vehicles. Of which, 201 were alcohol violations; 2 were drug violations; 667 were speeding; 20 were overloading; 14 were oversized violations...
On the highway, traffic police inspected and recorded 152 violations, fined 718 million VND, revoked 94 driver's licenses, and detained 4 vehicles.
On waterways, authorities detected and handled 198 violations, imposing fines of VND217 million; on railways, authorities detected and handled 2 violations, imposing fines of VND2 million.
"From noon on August 30 to noon on August 31, traffic order and safety were stable, with congestion occurring on some gateway routes to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The reason was the sudden increase in traffic volume, exceeding the capacity of the traffic infrastructure system. Authorities have deployed traffic organization plans and traffic flow control to help minimize congestion on the first day of the holiday," said Mr. Tran Huu Minh, Chief of Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee.
