Bloomberg financial news agency journalist Mark Gurman points out some features that could be highlights on the iPhone 16, expected to launch in September this year.

Action button on every iPhone 16

One of the most common rumors about the iPhone 16 is that all four models will have a customizable Action button. While this isn't a new feature, as it's already available on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, it's the first time the Action button has been added to the standard iPhone.

According to Gurman, Apple will add new options to the lock screen and control center with iOS 18, thereby making the Action button less useful as users can add many different shortcuts to the iPhone.

Capture Button for iPhone 16 Pro

Another rumor that’s been circulating widely is the Capture button. This is a brand new feature that hasn’t appeared on any iPhone yet. Gurman says it works like the button on a DSLR: press lightly to activate autofocus, press harder to take a photo. Swipe the button to zoom in and out. It also allows for video recording controls.

The Capture button may be exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, according to Gurman.

Larger screen on the Pro

According to leaked information, the iPhone 16 Pro will use a 6.3-inch screen instead of the 6.1-inch screen on the iPhone 15 Pro, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will use a 6.9-inch screen, instead of the 6.7-inch screen on previous generations.

Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is Apple's upcoming AI suite that won't be exclusive to the iPhone 16, but will also be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. However, Gurman doesn't believe that Apple Intelligence will be able to boost iPhone demand.

New colors

Every year, Apple introduces new colors for the iPhone. Gurman notes that the iPhone 15 Pro's blue color will be replaced by rose gold. According to previous rumors, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be available in black, white, pink, and gray, while the iPhone 16 Plus and 16 will be available in black, green, pink, blue, and white.

New A18 chip

Finally, the iPhone 16 will use the new A18 chip. It seems that the Pro model may use the A18 Pro chip. All four models are equipped with 8GB of RAM, the minimum to run Apple Intelligence.

From his analysis, Gurman believes that the iPhone 16 will not lead to record sales for Apple. However, 2025 will be much more interesting when "Apple" is planning to launch the iPhone SE 4 and iPhone 17 Air.
