Over the past 12 months, the tennis world has often witnessed the tense confrontation between Jannik Sinner (24 years old, Italy) and Carlos Alcaraz (22 years old, Spain) . The two top tennis players of the current tennis world share 4 Grand Slam singles titles and 8 other ATP championships.
Now, the competition has expanded and spilled over into the financial realm. For the second year in a row, Alcaraz has been the highest-paid player, earning $48.3 million (before taxes and agent fees), up from $42.3 million the year before.
Meanwhile, Sinner followed closely with $47.3 million , nearly double last year's $26.6 million.
On the court, Sinner is the clear winner, with $20.3 million in prize money, just behind Djokovic on Forbes' annual earnings list. Alcaraz , on the other hand, is the king off the court, pocketing $35 million from advertising, events and commercial contracts.
Ranked 3rd is Coco Gauff (USA, 21 years old), the highest-earning female tennis player in the sports world, reaching 37.2 million USD (12.2 million from competition, 25 million from advertising). She surpassed Novak Djokovic , who ranked 4th with 29.6 million USD.
Notably, this is the first time since 2010 (of Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Rafael Nadal) that the top three positions belong to players under 30. In total, the top 10 richest players this year earned up to 285 million USD , up 16% compared to 2024, but still below the record 343 million USD in 2020, when Federer alone contributed 106.3 million.
Federer previously topped the rankings until retiring at the age of 41 in 2022. Djokovic briefly took the top spot in 2023 before giving way to Alcaraz.
Tennis continues to be a rare sport where men and women earn almost equally, with four female players making the Forbes top 10.
The remaining list of the top 10 includes: Aryna Sabalenka ($27.4 million), Qinwen Zheng ($26.1 million), Iga Swiatek ($24 million), Taylor Fritz ($15.6 million), Frances Tiafoe ($15.2 million) and Daniil Medvedev ($14.3 million).
