Alibaba.com Expands AI Tools for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

Alibaba.com says it is building a global supply chain powered by MSMEs, leveraging the power of artificial intelligence

“As we drive wider adoption of our AI tools among the micro, small and medium-sized enterprise community, we also hope to expand our global supplier network, reaching our target of 100,000 suppliers in the next three years,” said an Alibaba.com representative.

Alibaba said a recent survey found that these businesses are constantly looking for innovative solutions and products like AI. In fact, 25-30% of MSMEs surveyed use AI on a daily basis. On Alibaba.com alone, about 30,000 MSMEs globally are using the platform’s AI tools.

By leveraging these tools, surveyed companies saw a 37% increase in product visibility, creating more opportunities for new business deals and growth. Additionally, surveyed MSMEs that used Alibaba.com’s AI tools are leveraging AI expertise to enhance their businesses, as they adopted up to 70% of the optimization suggestions from these tools.

Global MSMEs' Assessment of AI Powered by Alibaba.com

According to Alibaba.com, MSMEs can diversify their supply sources by connecting with suppliers who focus on specific industries and products. Typical examples include cosmetics made from natural ingredients (Korea), home furnishings, cameras, accessories (Japan), spices and sauces (Vietnam), gemstones and horse racing equipment (India and Pakistan), etc.

Alibaba.com aims to support 100 MSMEs across Africa to set up shop on the platform to sell their products globally. In addition, of the 500 events and workshops that Alibaba.com will host this year (April 2024 to March 2025) for global suppliers, around 300 will be held in developing countries.

Alibaba.com is now connecting more global MSMEs than ever before, serving over 48 million buyers and over 200,000 suppliers on its platform worldwide .
