The video recording the scene of a young soldier holding an old bicycle with one hand and supporting an old woman with the other across the Phong Chau pontoon bridge brought a warm feeling to netizens, causing them to compete to share it with emotional comments.

Seeing the old lady’s hands and feet shaking, not having enough strength to push her bicycle across the shaky pontoon bridge, a soldier from the 249th Engineer Brigade (Engineer Corps) quickly came to help. He carefully put his arm around the old lady’s shoulder to support her, patiently walking slowly step by step with her across the pontoon bridge, with the same caring manner as if he were his own grandmother. After helping the old lady cross the pontoon bridge, he and another soldier also led the bicycle and helped her up the steep slope to the main road.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tu (27 years old, living in Tu Xa commune, Lam Thao district, Phu Tho province), who recorded this meaningful moment and posted it on social network TikTok, said: "On the afternoon of September 30, while moving on Phong Chau pontoon bridge, I accidentally caught the moment a soldier helped an old woman and led a bicycle across the bridge, so I took out my phone to record it. I was very surprised that the video posted on TikTok was loved by so many people and received such positive feedback."

The Phong Chau pontoon bridge was installed by the 249th Engineer Brigade to reconnect traffic between the two banks of the river after the Phong Chau bridge collapsed. It was put into operation on the morning of September 30. The brigade mobilized over 200 soldiers to carry out this task. After the bridge was installed, they also took turns monitoring and helping people move across. On the evening of October 1, due to the rising water level of the Red River, the pontoon bridge was temporarily suspended from 6 p.m. to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.
