According to TechRadar , Google is rolling out a new feature called 'Android Safe Browsing' for Android phones, which will warn users about malicious links and websites in supported apps.

According to Android expert Mishaal Rahman, there is a new Android Safe Browsing page that is appearing on some Android phones, showing which apps will support this feature and how it will protect users from scams, malware, etc.

Google said that if a user clicks a link in a trusted news app that leads to a phishing site, they will receive a warning about the risk before opening the link, giving people more time to consider the path they are about to take.

The feature also includes “live threat protection,” which Google claims will help “detect threats more accurately.” It’s unclear whether this feature is on by default or if users need to enable it.

There's no official list of third-party apps that support the new Android Safe Browsing feature yet, but Mishaal Rahman says it could include apps that use SafetyNet's Safe Browsing API, which is built into Google Play services and allows apps to check whether a URL has been classified as a threat by Google.

According to Android Police , apps that use SafetyNet's Safe Browsing API can also help Android devices save battery life and limit bandwidth usage, as well as limit what malicious apps and websites can do to the phone.

Android Safe Browsing is available automatically through Google Play Services and will be available through an update through the Google Play Store. Currently, the update is only visible on Pixel and Samsung devices, but it is expected to roll out to all supported Android devices in the near future.

If you've received the update, the new feature will be under Settings > Security & privacy > More security & privacy on Pixel devices, on Samsung Galaxy devices it's under Settings > Security & Privacy.
