The North is preparing to welcome cold air causing thunderstorms and temperature drops.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the impact of weak cold air and wind convergence at an altitude of 1,500 - 3,000m, from the night of May 7 to the end of May 9, the North will experience a period of showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of heavy rain in mountainous areas. Temperatures will drop from 29-32 degrees Celsius.

Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and inundation in low-lying areas.

Weather forecast for May 7 in regions across the country:

Hanoi : Scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 24-26 degrees Celsius, highest 28-31 degrees Celsius.

Northwest: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with risk of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 22-25 degrees Celsius; highest 28-31 degrees Celsius.

Northeast: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain, risk of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 23-26 degrees Celsius; highest 27-30 degrees Celsius.

From Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue: In the north, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places. In the south, there will be thunderstorms at night, and sunny days, with some places experiencing hot weather. The lowest temperature is 25-28 degrees Celsius; the highest in the north is 30-33 degrees Celsius, and in the south, some places will be over 35 degrees Celsius.

From Da Nang to Binh Thuan : Thunderstorms at night in some places, sunny during the day, hot in some places. Lowest temperature 26-29 degrees Celsius; highest 31-34 degrees Celsius.

Central Highlands: Showers and thunderstorms at night in some places, sunny during the day, hot in some places. Lowest temperature 19-22 degrees Celsius; highest 31-34 degrees Celsius, some places over 35 degrees Celsius.

Southern region: Showers and thunderstorms at night in some places, sunny during the day, hot in some places. Lowest temperature 25-28 degrees Celsius; highest 34-36 degrees Celsius, some places above 36 degrees Celsius.
