Reduce electricity costs
Nienyi Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Nienyi Company), Van Trung Industrial Park specializes in manufacturing electric wires and large-scale electronic products, owning a non-stop production line. Due to high electricity consumption, the Company has established a policy of energy management and use to save and effectively optimize electricity efficiency. To save electricity, the enterprise has implemented the following solutions: Assessing the current status of energy use; investing in energy-saving equipment; automation and intelligent control; rational production arrangement; training and raising awareness for workers on electricity saving practices; applying renewable energy.

The company periodically conducts energy audits to identify equipment and production lines with high power consumption to propose optimization solutions, reduce power consumption and improve energy efficiency (equipment with high power consumption will be prioritized to operate during off-peak hours). Gradually eliminate outdated equipment and replace it with high-performance, low-energy-consuming equipment. The company applies automatic control systems to monitor, analyze in real time and adjust power usage to suit actual needs (self-programming and installing software to turn on and off lights according to the number of people working in the room, etc.); try to avoid operating high-power equipment simultaneously during peak hours.
Along with the above solutions, Nienyi Company also installed a rooftop solar power system with a capacity of 860 MWp to reduce the load on the grid. By synchronously applying the above solutions, the enterprise saved about 60 MWh/month, equivalent to about 23% of electricity consumption. Mr. Kenny, Deputy General Director of Nienyi Company, said: “We installed a solar power system in the factory area to use green electricity, reducing dependence on traditional electricity. At the same time, through optimization measures such as energy-saving lighting and high-efficiency air conditioning systems, we have achieved remarkable results in reducing carbon emissions. These actions not only help save electricity costs but also demonstrate the enterprise's practical commitment to environmental protection.”
Along with the energy saving highlight of Nienyi Company, to have more stable and safe power sources for production while saving costs, many large enterprises in industrial zones and clusters such as: Hong Hai Science and Technology Group (with factories in industrial zones: Van Trung, Dinh Tram, Quang Chau ...); Bac Giang LNG Garment Corporation Joint Stock Company (Doi Ngo Industrial Cluster); Samsung Electronics Vietnam Limited Liability Company (Yen Phong Industrial Park), ... have proposed many effective power saving solutions. At the same time, installing rooftop solar power systems with a capacity of 1,500 to more than 2,100 kW. Thanks to that, each year, businesses have saved billions of VND in electricity costs and joined hands with the electricity industry to ensure energy supply.
Promoting the development of rooftop solar power
According to statistics, by the end of August 2025, the whole province had more than 1,230 organizations and households installing rooftop solar power systems, with a total capacity of more than 210.6 MWp (before January 1, 2021, the whole province installed 1,095 rooftop solar power systems that sold electricity to Vietnam Electricity Group, with a total capacity of more than 35.12 MWp). Of the total of more than 1,230 entities installing rooftop solar power systems, there are 123 enterprises with a total capacity of more than 172.5 MWp, the rest are households and public service units.
It is expected that in 2025, the province's commercial electricity output will reach 16.3 billion kWh, an increase of 1.86% compared to 2024. By the end of August 2025, the whole province has more than 1,230 organizations and households installing rooftop solar power systems, with a total capacity of more than 210.6 MWp. |
Mr. Than Van Van, An Phong residential group, Tan Tien ward shared that in July 2023, his family installed a rooftop solar power system (including UPS), capacity 5.4 kWp, total cost 90 million VND. Since having the solar power system, his family has reduced about 2.7 million VND in electricity bills per month on average.
According to Bac Ninh Electricity Company, it is expected that in 2025 the province's commercial electricity output will reach 16.3 billion kWh, an increase of 1.86% compared to 2024 (of which industrial and construction electricity accounts for 74.7%, an increase of 1.25% compared to 2024). Meanwhile, the implementation of power source and grid projects in the province according to the approved adjusted Power Plan VIII (including 15 power source projects with a total capacity of about 1,930 MW and 44 grid projects) is facing many difficulties related to site clearance; connection; and request for adjustment of power generation capacity.
To ensure the synchronous implementation of the adjusted Power Plan VIII in the province, which sets a target of 50% of office buildings using self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power by 2030 (not selling electricity to the national power system), at the end of August, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee issued a document directing heads of departments, branches, and sectors; Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards to organize a review and assessment of the actual conditions of facilities (structure, roof area, etc.) at the office headquarters and affiliated units assigned to manage to determine the potential for installing self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power. A representative of the Department of Industry and Trade said that up to this point, hundreds of agencies, units, commune-level People's Committees, schools, etc. in the province have sent the results of the review and registration for rooftop solar power installation to the Department. Currently, the Department of Industry and Trade is reviewing and advising the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation plan.
According to information from the Department of Statistics and Survey of Bac Ninh Electricity Company, the province has an average temperature of 22-23 degrees Celsius, an average annual number of sunshine hours of 1,400-1,700 hours, and an average total radiation of about 3.8 kWh/m2/day. Bac Ninh has about 900,000 households (equivalent to the number of apartments) and tens of thousands of schools, hospitals, offices, livestock farms, etc. that can install rooftop solar power. Therefore, Bac Ninh has the potential to develop rooftop solar power with a technical potential of up to thousands of MW. Installing rooftop solar power will contribute to reducing national grid overload, developing the economy and society; taking advantage of roof area, cooling the roof (because the panels block sunlight); reducing the time of using air conditioners; reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting the environment and people...
