The Immigration Department chaired a conference to assess the current situation and propose recommendations and solutions to improve the efficiency of operations and ensure aviation security and safety.
Following the direction of the Government and the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security , on the afternoon of September 25, in Hanoi, the Immigration Department chaired a conference to assess the current situation and propose recommendations and solutions to improve the efficiency of operations and ensure aviation security and safety.
The general goal is to build a Vietnamese airport system that ensures absolute security and safety, while also being civilized, modern, and friendly, creating the best conditions for people and businesses.
Major General Nguyen Ba Tuan, Deputy Director of the Immigration Department, emphasized that the civil aviation industry plays a particularly important role in the country's integration and socio -economic development. The system of airports and seaports is not only an important traffic hub, connecting domestic regions with international ones, but also a gateway to demonstrate the image, capacity and position of the country.
Over the past time, Vietnam has been recognized by the international community in fulfilling its national responsibilities towards civil aviation, basically meeting international regulations, standards, practices and development needs; creating a favorable environment, while ensuring absolute security and safety of aviation activities.
According to Major General Nguyen Ba Tuan, in the new context, the Vietnamese aviation industry is facing many opportunities such as: The demand for travel and freight transport is increasing strongly, the trend of digital transformation and application of science and technology opens up the possibility of optimizing operations, key infrastructure projects such as Long Thanh International Airport are gradually becoming a model in planning and developing international airports. At the same time, the aviation industry is also facing certain challenges such as: Increasing demands from passengers and international partners, competitive pressure in the region, as well as traditional and non-traditional security risks.
The Immigration Department is the agency responsible for controlling the exit and entry of Vietnamese citizens and foreigners at international airports. Since March 1, 2025, it has taken on the additional task of ensuring aviation security.
"In recent times, the unit has closely coordinated with agencies and businesses to maintain a stable security and order situation at airports. In addition to favorable conditions, the process of performing tasks also shows the need for innovation in the management, exploitation and operation of airports.
This is not only a matter of improving the quality of passenger service but also an urgent task to ensure absolute security and safety," Major General Nguyen Ba Tuan emphasized.
On August 12, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 21 on strengthening measures to ensure aviation security and safety, which identifies the principle of "Not trading off aviation safety and security for any reason".
The Directive also determined that the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Construction need to closely coordinate with relevant ministries and branches in improving the effectiveness of aviation security and safety work to promote sustainable development of Vietnam's civil aviation, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development process and enhancing the country's international integration.
