The Ministry of Public Security commends units that dismantled an illegal drug trafficking ring on cyberspace.

NDO - The Ministry of Public Security has just sent a letter of commendation to the Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police and the Director of the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention for their achievements in fighting and destroying a large-scale drug trafficking ring on cyberspace.

Accordingly, on November 4, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security , Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, sent a letter of commendation to the Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police and the Director of the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention for their achievements in fighting and destroying a large-scale drug trafficking ring online.

Previously, from June to October, professional units of Quang Nam Police coordinated with the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Ministry of Public Security) and police in many localities to establish a special investigation project to track down a nationwide drug trafficking ring on cyberspace.

Through two phases of the investigation, six related subjects were prosecuted and temporarily detained, including: Hoang Van Chung, Vo Thi Truc Mai, Nguyen Phi Co, Tran Ngoc Quy, Nguyen Thanh Trung, and Nguyen Trong Kinh. Among them, Hoang Van Chung, residing in Lam Dong province, was the ringleader, growing marijuana and selling it to subjects who then resold it to users.

The illegal drug trafficking activities of the subjects have made illegal profits of more than 30 billion VND. The evidence seized from the case is more than 40kg of dried marijuana, 7.5 billion VND and many other evidences.

Initial investigation results determined that this was a large-scale drug trafficking ring on cyberspace, operating nationwide with sophisticated methods and tricks, tightly organized, and with a clear division of tasks.

The subjects in the ring and the customers do not know each other, only communicating through social networks. The buying and selling is done through bank transfers and express delivery services.

The letter of commendation reads: This is an outstanding achievement, demonstrating the determination, high sense of responsibility, and sharpness in the profession of the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Quang Nam Provincial Police in preventing and combating drug crimes and high-tech crimes.

With the above achievements, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security have decided to give special rewards to 3 units: Drug Crime Investigation Police Department; Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (Quang Nam Provincial Police); Department 4, Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (Ministry of Public Security), each unit receives 20 million VND.
