According to Colonel Hoang Van Man, Political Commissar of the City Border Guard, the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba is an exemplary, loyal and pure relationship; a vivid symbol of international solidarity between two nations that share the same ideals of independence, freedom and the path to socialism.
For nearly 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Cuban people have always stood shoulder to shoulder, giving their affection and wholehearted, loyal support to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause. The image of leader Fidel Castro as the first foreign leader to visit the liberated area of Quang Tri in 1973 remains a symbol of the close solidarity between the two peoples.
Currently, the Cuban people are facing numerous difficulties due to the prolonged impact of the pandemic, natural disasters and severe economic crisis. The donation activities of the City Border Guard not only share the difficulties with the Cuban people but also contribute to beautifying the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, officers and soldiers of agencies and units under the City Border Guard participated in donating support. This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).
