This year, Vietnamese coffee has reached a new historical milestone. In just 8 months of 2025, export turnover reached 6.42 billion USD, far exceeding the previous record, heading straight towards an unprecedented target: 8 billion USD for the whole crop this year. This spectacular result was achieved not only due to the supply gap in the world market pushing up prices, but also the result of efforts to deeply change the quality and brand value of the entire Vietnamese coffee industry.
Vietnamese coffee is writing a new chapter, from traditional Robusta beans to specialty coffees and deep-processed coffees. The efforts of the business community in recent times, such as developing raw material areas according to sustainable standards, investing in deep processing, etc., are showing clear results.
Mr. Le Duc Huy - Chairman of the Board of Members of Simexco Dak Lak Company said: "Vietnam is gradually becoming a center for deep processing of coffee as many corporations have continued to invest in expanding production and deep processing lines. Therefore, we have always accompanied roasters to develop high quality coffee products."
Vietnam currently holds the advantage of being the world's number 1 exporter of Robusta coffee - a product line increasingly favored by roasters for blending and instant coffee production. In addition, Vietnam's high-quality Arabica source is also rated by experts as superior in some specialty segments compared to Brazil. The combination of high-quality Robusta and Arabica helps Vietnamese coffee build a diverse product portfolio, meeting both popular and high-end segments, suitable for international consumers.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai - Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association commented: "With the current situation, it is forecasted that in 2025, Vietnam will export about 1.5 million tons of coffee with a turnover of about 8 billion USD."
The position of the number 1 Robusta exporting country has brought Vietnamese coffee an unprecedented golden opportunity. But more importantly, the coffee industry has demonstrated its initiative in transforming quality and brand value. With record turnover as a foundation, along with a strategy to promote deep processing, diversify products and commit to sustainability, Vietnamese coffee can confidently assert its new position on the global coffee map, moving towards more sustainable growth goals in the coming years.
