In response to storm Tra Mi (storm number 6), Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces have made plans to evacuate people and called on ships to avoid the storm.
Accordingly, Quang Nam province will evacuate 212,000 people if the storm is strong and 396,000 people if the storm is super. People will be evacuated to live in interspersed solid houses or evacuated to concentrated offices and schools.
Regarding the situation of ships operating at sea, there are a total of 54 ships with 2,300 workers. Of which, in the Truong Sa archipelago waters there are 50 ships; in the Hoang Sa archipelago waters there are 4 fishing boats with 112 workers operating in the dangerous area. It is expected that at about 4:00 p.m. today (October 24), 4 vehicles will come ashore.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province Le Van Dung requested that local units must have permanent leaders on duty 24/7 to direct storm prevention, strengthen inspection of "4 on-site" equipment forces; ensure smooth communication from province to district, from district to commune to promptly grasp information from local level. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development considers the situation to organize a sea ban to ensure safety.
According to information from the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard Command, as of 3 p.m. on October 23, Quang Ngai still had 366 fishing boats with more than 4,100 fishermen operating in the sea; 4,115 boats with more than 32,700 fishermen were anchored at ports.
All ships and boats have received information about the developments and movement direction of storm No. 6. For ships and boats in the storm-affected area, the Provincial Border Guard Command recommends that they move quickly to take shelter safely.
Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 6, on the afternoon of October 23, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Quang Ngai province issued a telegram requesting units and localities to use communication systems to inform captains of ships and boats operating at sea about information and developments of the storm so that they can proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas.
In particular, ships and boats operating in the northern East Sea and Hoang Sa archipelago must not be subjective and must immediately move to take shelter.
Organize the counting of vessels operating at sea; strictly manage the activities of vessels and boats at sea. Maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur. Prepare rescue forces and means to deploy rescue operations when required.
