Universities start virtual filtering, when will the benchmark scores be announced?

Speaking to reporters, Master Cu Xuan Tien - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department of the University of Economics and Law (VNU-HCM) said that when there is data, training institutions will review candidate data on the General Admission System of the Ministry of Education and Training , analyze the number of wishes, add priority points, foreign language certificate points and calculate the percentile to evaluate the position of candidates in the entire score spectrum.

The Ministry of Education and Training will conduct 6 virtual screenings nationwide during this period, starting from August 17. After each screening, schools will adjust the expected admission list, ensuring that enrollment quotas are allocated appropriately and avoiding virtual candidates. By 5:00 p.m. on August 20, schools will enter the official admission scores and admission results into the system, and at the same time prepare to announce the first round of admission results," Mr. Tien said, adding that the University of Economics and Law is expected to announce the results on the evening of August 20.

Some other schools such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, University of Finance and Marketing... although there is no official data yet, also predict that the number of wishes will increase sharply.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry said that according to statistics, this year the school has more than 80,000 candidates registered for admission to the school. The school is currently determining the bonus points, converted points for English and other subjects, then pushing them back to the Ministry of Education and Training's system to perform a virtual filtering process to determine the final benchmark score.

Similarly, Master Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade said that the school predicts that there will be more than 100,000 candidates registering to enter the school, double the number of last year.

“The school will follow the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the virtual filtering process. The school's benchmark scores will be announced to candidates on the evening of August 20, after the final virtual filtering process is completed,” Mr. Son said, adding that with the multi-round virtual filtering process, schools hope to minimize the situation of “virtual candidates” and ensure the rights of candidates nationwide.

Mr. Son also added that after announcing the benchmark scores, on August 22, the school will announce the list of successful candidates and start welcoming candidates both online and in person.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training as of 5:00 p.m. on July 28 (the last day for candidates to register and adjust their NV), there were 849,544 candidates registered for university and college admission with 7,615,560 NV. The percentage of candidates participating in the admission this year accounts for 73.23% of the total number of candidates taking the high school graduation exam in 2025.

Admission progress and result announcement:

From August 13–20: Schools conduct virtual filtering and adjust the expected admission list.
5:00 p.m. August 20: Schools enter benchmark scores and admission lists into the common system; prepare to announce the first round of results.
No later than 5:00 p.m. on August 22: Official announcement of benchmark scores and admission results.
Before 5:00 p.m. on August 30: Successful candidates need to confirm their admission online.
Additional admission rounds will take place from September to the end of the year according to the regulations of each school.
