Can Tho plans to spend more than 220 billion VND to support officials working far away.

The subjects of application are employees working in Party, State, front agencies, socio-political organizations of Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces (formerly) working in Can Tho city.

On the afternoon of July 30, Can Tho City People's Committee held a press conference for the second quarter of 2025.

At the conference, the Department of Home Affairs of Can Tho City said that after the merger, Can Tho City has a total assigned payroll of 9,951, currently 7,120 payrolls have been arranged (2,590 at the provincial level, 4,530 at the communal level).

Up to now, the city has resolved retirement and unemployment policies for 2,139 cases.

Regarding support for those who have to work far away, Mr. Vo Nhut Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance of Can Tho City, said that the subjects of application are cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers working in Party, State, front agencies, socio-political organizations of Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces (formerly) working in Can Tho City.

The expected support level is 4 million VND/person/month for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers who are not eligible for official housing or transportation to work.

In which, support for travel expenses is 1 million VND per month, food is 1.5 million VND and accommodation is 1.5 million VND.

For officials, civil servants, public employees and workers who have been arranged official housing and transportation, they will be supported with meal allowances corresponding to the above levels.

According to initial screening data, Can Tho City has a total of over 2,300 officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers eligible for support. Of these, 1,800 are from the government sector; 526 are from the Party, the Fatherland Front, and socio- political organizations.

The expected time for consideration of support is 2 years from the date of implementation of the arrangement and merger.

Thus, the total city budget to be spent in support is over 220 billion VND.
