[Update] - Provincial Party Standing Committee assesses the economic situation

Economic growth is high and fairly even across all sectors.

The draft report on socio-economic development in the first 6 months of the year and tasks for the last 6 months of 2024 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, presented by Comrade Do Quoc Canh, Provincial Party Committee member and Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, stated: In the first 6 months of 2024, despite many difficulties and challenges, with the spirit of solidarity, proactiveness, creativity, and efforts of the Party Committee, the government, the business community and the people of all ethnic groups in the province, the province's socio-economic situation remained stable and continued to develop. The economy grew highly and fairly evenly in all fields; many indicators increased compared to the same period such as industrial production, state budget revenue, total tourism revenue, exports, investment attraction; Winter-Spring rice productivity reached the highest level ever. The Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) in 2023 increased by 17 places.

Culture and society have made progress. The province has successfully organized many major events with strong influence, which have been approved and highly appreciated by the people. The quality of comprehensive education has been improved, and key education has been maintained in the leading group in the country. Social security has been taken care of, and people's lives have been improved. The campaign to support housing construction for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in the province has been organized and implemented synchronously and widely, mobilizing all levels, sectors, business communities and people from all walks of life to participate.

National defense, security, and social order and safety are ensured. The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system has achieved positive results; the system of institutions, mechanisms, policies, and planning under the province's authority continues to be supplemented, amended, newly issued, and increasingly perfected; many difficulties and problems are focused on and resolved, creating a favorable environment and conditions for socio-economic development.

Impressive and outstanding numbers

The growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is estimated at 11.5%, ranking 3rd in the country and leading the group of 10 provinces and cities with the largest economic scale in the country.

There are 4 more communes meeting the NTM standards, 13 communes meeting the advanced NTM standards and 9 communes meeting the model NTM standards. There are 34 more products ranked as OCOP at the provincial level, bringing the total number of OCOP products at the provincial level to 497 products.

The whole province is estimated to welcome 9.78 million visitors, an increase of 16.1%; tourism revenue is estimated at 19,848.5 billion VND, an increase of 30.2% over the same period.

Mobilization of development investment capital is estimated at 65,885 billion VND, equal to 48.8% of the plan, up 3.2% over the same period.

Export value is estimated at 2,881.6 million USD, up 21.9%; import value is estimated at 5,612.7 million USD, up 30.8% over the same period.

The whole province has 84/90 students winning prizes in the National Excellent Student Competition, leading the country in winning rate (93%); 4 students won prizes at international Olympic competitions.

In 6 months, the whole province admitted 5,157 new party members, equal to 63.5% of the plan.

Identify the cause and set new tasks

The draft report pointed out 8 shortcomings and pointed out the subjective causes: the work of analyzing, forecasting and resolving difficulties and problems in some sectors and fields was not timely and not close to reality. The capacity of consulting and organizing the implementation of tasks of some specialized agencies was still limited and did not meet the requirements. A number of cadres, civil servants and public employees, including leaders and managers, had limited capacity, lacked enthusiasm, were afraid of responsibility, leading to fear of making mistakes, shirking tasks, working slowly, rigidly, harassing, causing difficulties and troubles in solving work. The inspection, monitoring, supervision and urging of subordinates to perform tasks in some sectors, fields, localities and units were not thorough and drastic; discipline and administrative discipline in the implementation of public duties were not strict in some places.

Based on forecasts of the world and domestic situation, the draft report has proposed 9 groups of tasks and solutions to be implemented in the last 6 months of 2024 to continue to resolutely, synchronously, creatively and effectively implement and successfully achieve the set goals and targets.
